Goodreads Summary:
When love came knocking on the door of novice witch, Portia Mullins, in the form of handsome bad boy, Vance Mangum, she had no idea how quickly the attraction between them would escalate. Now she finds her relationship with Vance taken to a whole new level, in a way she had never dreamed possible at this point and time of her life. Yet even as the personal connection between them explodes, the two quickly find themselves in a world of shifting balances. While searching for Vance’s missing mother, they realize they are suddenly unsure of who to trust, learning that sometimes things are not always as they appear. When Vance’s demon characteristics abruptly begin to resurface again without warning, the horrible truth comes out, crashing down upon them and shattering some of their most precious dreams. Once the deadly plan is uncovered, Portia and Vance find themselves hastily rushing against the hands of time in an attempt to stop an ancient ritual from being performed. But will they be successful before fate reaches out to twist them cruelly, possibly separating them and changing magic forever? Passion, loyalties, powers, and family ties, will all be tested when dangerous adventures abound in this third installment in the Of Witches and Warlocks series, Blood of the White Witch.

Review:
I read this a day or so ago and I still don't know what to type, my mind is still frazzled.and not because  it was bad it was far from it. It was amazing and probably my favorite so far out of the series, just this book was literally a roller coaster ride of emotions, with plenty of those kisses that Lacey is famous for.

Vance and Portia head to Scotland in hopes of finding his mother and end up in cluster of a mess and it doesn't stop until the very end which I must say -- 'loud scream' inserted here because Lacey left us hanging like she did. I thought the last cliffhanger was bad, but I think this one tops any ending I have ever read. I better stop before I give anything away and you might smack me. I just wish I could talk to someone that has read it before I explode because I am stunned , shocked and in disbelief,. Look at me ramble on when I said wouldn't I'm sorry. Did I mention how hot those kisses were in this book? I did, didn't I ?

But if you read the previous two books, you will devour this book in no time I did. And if its possible to love these characters anymore this book will do it. Sorry for the previous ramble I just-- never mind. Just get this book asap is all I have left to say. I really need book 4, Dark Rising Like now, not tomorrow.

The BSP Tour Guest Post and Giveaway Blood of the Witch by Lacey Weatherford

I am so excited to have Lacey once again stop by to visit BLH, she is continuing her guided tour through Vanceland(nice place to be if you ask me ). Once again please give a warm welcome to Lacey.

Touring Through “Vanceland,” Part 5

Hello again everyone! Thanks for joining me for part 5 of our tour through Vanceland. Ihope you’ve been enjoying the trip so far.

Near the end of the book we venture into a new area of Scotland in the story. Aberdeenshire, and specifically into the township of Inverurie. Vance and Portia find themselves briefly staying at the Kintore Arms Hotel as they try to relocate a certain signal they had been tracking. Emotions are high in this part of the story as things arecoming to a head, and I often found myself typing very quickly as my fingers tried to keep up with the pace of the story.

I did a lot of research when choosing the particular stone circle the group would eventual end up at. Easter Auquhorthies fit the bill quite nicely. Its stones are larger than people and it had a large recumbent stone as well which could serve as an altar. It’s amazing how many of these circles exist in the area, everything from very small rocks laid out in the traditional pattern to larger ones too. I find it all very interesting and I would love to go see them in person someday. I keep promising all of my Scotland gals that I will come do a book signing over there. Hopefully it will happen someday soon!

I can’t reveal a lot with the excerpt from this part of the story, without it being spoilerish. Just know that the writing of this part of the book was INTENSE! I’m glad I survived it! LOL

(Can I add here that I am not sure I survived it :) )

Book Excerpt:

Grandma stepped in between the two of them. “Sean, did you tell him what we found out while they were gone?” she asked, trying to redirect their attention.

Dad let out a big sigh. “We got online and looked up stone circles in the area,” he said with a hard expression.

“And?” Vance and I both asked at the same time.

“There are ninety such circles in Aberdeenshire.”

“That’s just great,” Vance said lifting his hands before dropping them to his side in defeat. “Is anything going to work in our favor?”

He spun around and walked down the hall into our room, closing the door behind him with a slam. Dad just looked at me, shaking his head, his face reddening. “He’s really getting out of control, Portia.”

“He’s just nervous, Dad. We all are. That’s why everyone is fighting. I’ll go talk to him.” I left Dad standing there in the hall staring after me. I went into the room, opening the door softly and closing it the same way behind me.

Vance was lying on the bed watching the news.

I walked into the bathroom to splash a little cold water on my face, trying to calm myself down.

Things were coming to a head. I could feel it.

“What the heck?” I heard Vance say from the other room. “Portia! Come here quick!”

I walked to the doorway to see what he was talking about.

He was standing at the foot of the bed looking at the television. A news reporter was talking about a breaking news story on the screen. She was standing next to Douglas and Fiona.

“What happened then?” the reporter was asking Fiona who looked very distraught, but leaned in to speak into the microphone.

“It’s just been so horrible,” Fiona said, clasping her hands together and wringing them in a frustrated fashion. “We’ve been touring this part of the country with our daughter-in-law for the last two days. She went out to see the Easter Aquhorthies Stone Circle outside Inverurie yesterday.”

Vance was instantly on his laptop, looking up directions.

“She never came home last night,” Fiona continued.

“She’s a diabetic, and we’re afraid she’s sick somewhere.”

A picture of Krista popped up on the screen.

The reporter spoke up again. “This woman was last reportedly seen on High Street in Inverurie. If you have seen her, please call our hotline number at the bottom of the screen. We need your help to return this woman to her family.”

“What is this?” I asked, confused, and I stared at the screen.

“This doesn’t make any sense!”

“It’s a message for us,” Vance said while he began to write something down on a piece of paper.

“Portia, go get your dad.”

“All right,” I said, hurrying out the door and down the narrow hallway to my parents’ room.

I knocked briskly on the door, and my mom answered.

“Did you see it?” I asked and pointed at the T.V.

“See what?” she replied.

“Douglas and Fiona were just on the news saying Krista got lost here yesterday after visiting Easter Aquhorthies Stone Circle. Vance said it’s a message and to come get Dad,” I replied.

Everyone jumped up in a flurry all at once and hurried down to our room.

“Dad’s here, Vance!” I called out when I entered, but I didn’t see him. “Vance?” I called out, and I went into the bathroom. “He isn’t here!” I ran to the window.

“The car is gone!” I yelled, and tears began to fill my eyes.

I turned to see Dad looking at Vance’s open laptop.

“Get in the car! I have the directions!” Dad hollered, and we all ran downstairs to pile into the other vehicle.

So there you have it...I know it’s not much, but it’s what I can reveal! If you want to know more you will have to read the book! LOL

I hope you will enjoy it!

Kelly's Review: NICHOLAS

NICHOLAS: The Lords of Satyr (Book 1)
By Elizabeth Amber

Published by: Aphrodisia
First Printing: August 1, 2007
ISBN-10: 0758220391
ISBN-13: 978-0758220394
Amazon; Barnes and Noble; Goodreads

Concept: “The last in a fabled line of otherworldly aristocracy, the Lords of Satyr are born to wealth, power, and a talent for sensual delight that mere mortals only dream of. Commanded to marry, these passionate men will travel to Rome, Venice, and Paris - and along the way will explore desires both shamelessly wicked and blissfully divine...He had sworn to take a proper wife. He hadn't bargained on meeting his match...Nicholas looks very much like what he is - the handsome, successful heir to a vineyard in Tuscany. But Nicholas is much more, for he is one of the last in an ancient line of satyr men. And the dying king of Else World wants him not only to marry, but to wed one of the king's own daughters - a half-human, half-faerie woman unaware of her heritage. Nicholas won't shirk his duty to produce heirs to guard his race's legacies, but he never plans to make his bride his only lover. A satyr's sexual hunger and sensual skills are legendary. One woman will never satisfy him. Or so Nicholas believes until he meets Jane. As spirited as she is fey, as beautiful as she is innocent, she is nevertheless determined to make her new husband hers alone - and she's eager for him to teach her every deliciously carnal secret he knows...” [From Amazon.]

Review: Oh my goodness! This was one sexy, erotic, pornographic, wild read let me tell you! I won’t re-summarize the book for you since the concept description is pretty accurate but some things need some elaboration. Jane plays a strong woman, who is a dumb virgin. She has very contradictory personality traits. Then again, so does Nicholas. So it’s very difficult to completely fall in love, or to completely hate many of these characters. There are some cliché easy to hate characters as well, but it’s fun to hate them. Then there’s the adorable younger and needs to be protected clichéd sister that you of course love. Yes, it is fun to love her too. I found myself being tossed around from one emotion to the other as far as characters go, but I didn’t mind it. There are some absolute naughty sex scenes in here, and naughty in a well, naughty way. It is NOT for the faint of heart that is for sure and I’ll betcha there are a hand full of reviews that will not like the book because of the raunchy and sometimes gratuitous sex. For me though, everything fit in well and I enjoyed it for what it was. In it’s genre, I think it was really well written with a really good story. I will absolutely be getting, reading and reviewing the rest of the books in this series and find out what happens to the naughty but oh so sexy Satyr brothers.

What I disliked: Some of the sex scenes were not my cup of tea, specifically the incestuous ones but, I suppose these were done well in line with the events of the story so I’m not taking off much for that. I had a difficult time with the female lead character. She was virgin, hiding a paranormal secret and was protecting her beloved sister. She was strong in that she had to undergo a series of events but I found her to be one of the most obnoxious female characters I have ever read about. For that, I have to take off some points. I would have preferred for the author to write her character so that I would fall in love with her.

What I liked: This is a historical uber erotic paranormal romance. I really appreciated the uniqueness of this story from a lot of different areas, one of them being historical and about a winery and some of the hard work that goes into the running of one. Some of the historical facts were really interesting and I actually checked them out on the internet after I read the book and they were accurate. I love it when I can learn from reading dirty books.

My rating: 3.5 Stars

This book is 35,376 words long. It is a novella.

Review:
After reading both books back to back I must say, S.J. must write faster, just kidding but January is too far away to know what happens next. I haven't decided how I feel about Alex I feel like I'm on a roller coaster ride when it comes to him. I also find myself rooting for Michael the further we divulge into this series. But its these cliffhangers that is driving me nuts.

Can you tell I loved the second book in this three book series. Just a little bit huh. It just might be my favorite out of this series. This book was a nice continuation into the series and I can't wait to read book three, Vampire's Redemption coming out in January 2012, doesn't that seem so far away.

I highly suggest you read this series, its just three books and well worth it, this book can be read as a stand alone.

Book Excerpt:
I rubbed my hands together and shot him a grateful look, “Thank you.”

“For what? Accosting you in the middle of the road during the season’s first snow?” There was a terribly charming gleam in his light blue eyes.

“No. For stopping before you got carried away.” He had opened the driver’s door and was watching me carefully.

Suddenly nervous, I stammered, “Not that you were the only one who was feeling aroused.”

One corner of his incredible mouth quirked up in amusement. He seemed to be genuinely pleased to

have turned me into a bumbling idiot. Jerk. I huffed and threw
myself into the driver’s seat. Without another word, he went to the other side and got in. As I was trying to make a U-turn on the road, I felt his gaze going over me.

Having anyone look at me in that way made me crazy. With him, the feeling was multiplied a thousand times. Having turned the truck around successfully, I decided to take a different approach. I
could be direct when the situation called for it. Whenever I was feeling embarrassed, that was how I could keep things under control.

“Tell me something.” I snapped. “Exactly how old are you?” I kept my eyes on the road. The snow was coming down steadily. Big, fluffy frozen sparks of light where the headlights shone on them in the darkness.

“As a human, I was born in a small Greek village in 1659. So, technically, I’m over three hundred and fifty years old.” He said it in a light tone, and I dared to look over at him.

“How old were you when you were turned into a vampire?”

“Twenty-seven years old.”

I waited for more information, but he said nothing else about being turned. Frustrated with the lack of pertinent facts about him, I gritted my teeth. Being mysterious might have taken him a long way with many women, but not with me. I still wanted answers.

“Can all vampires be out in the daylight? I thought it burned them or something.” I couldn’t seem to keep the sarcastic, bitchy edge toned down. It didn’t matter. Michael wasn’t offended in the least.

“Some of us are capable of doing so, but it is a very uncomfortable situation to be in. Some vampires are able to use crystals to ward off the pain.” He reached into one of the pockets of his coat and drew out a small red stone, “Victoria gave me this before she left. It came in quite handy the day you were

attacked.”

Attacked. Right. I sighed and made the turn into the driveway. The tires crunched over the gravel, like bones being crushed beneath us. I didn’t want to think about Alex, but his face kept flashing back to me. His shining golden hair, his charming smile, the way he made me completely helpless after we’d made love. I hated remembering it all, because at the end, he was looking at me with my blood smeared across his face, and I was lying prone on the stained sheets with my life draining away.

Fighting the urge to shiver, I parked the truck back by the garage and looked over at Michael. His dark eyebrows were creased in an expression that conveyed intense concentration. I placed a hand on his arm.

“Sorry for snapping at you.”

He waved a hand at me in dismissal, “Your temper is good to see. I’d rather have you screaming at me than pale and motionless on a bed.”

"Eve was put to sleep. And so was Adam...and, I think, so was my brother Matthew."

I am reading an absolute page turner in every sense of that term. I seriously am having a hard time putting this book down.

It's called "When the Wind Blows" by James Patterson which is the .5 book in the Maximum Ride series. I am not a huge Patterson fan. I mean, I've read his books before and they are alright. Not really in my romance genre but dayum, this book is freaken AWESOME! I think anyway. The reviews are mixed. If you have a literary brain, it may not be your thing but if you just like to sit down and enjoy a book, then get this one. I'm so glad I picked it up and I will be getting more and more into this series.

So that's it for me for today. I hope everyone has a great one and congratulations again to our winner, winner, chicken dinner!!!

Goodreads Summary:
Can someone else's past come back to bite you?

After being drained of nearly all the blood in her body, novice witch, Portia Mullins, wakes up to find that her warlock boyfriend, Vance Mangum, has fled in search of his demon father. Determined to keep him from facing the evil alone Portia follows after him, unknowingly setting herself on the path of a new adventure that will take her, Vance, and their coven over international borders, into a foreign place where they will discover that the black magic which awaits them is far worse than they ever imagined. Portia finds herself tangled up in a web of lies and deceit in another's quest for demonic power in the excitingly romantic second paranormal novel in the Of Witches and Warlocks Series, The Demon Kiss.

Review:
I really regret not reading this book sooner, after thoroughly enjoying The Trouble With Spells book so much. I read this book literally in just a few hours I was so entranced by Vance and Portia all over again. I may have mentioned this before but I do have to say it again so forgive me but Lacey writes some killer kissing scenes.

This book picks up where we left off, Vance disappearing and Portia sets off with her friends to go find him and that is where action begins. Can I just say I am more in love with Vance if that is possible than I was in the first book. And Portia, what a tough cookie she is. I could ramble all night about how awesome this book is but I think you should find out for yourselves. Pick up this book and if you haven't read the first that's okay you can read this book and not be lost at all. But I do suggest reading The Trouble with Spells too.

And lastly lucky I am moving on to Book 3 now or I would be screaming at my pc screen in how this book ended. Talk about shock factor!!

“But come on, guys, she’s my mother… Can I really tell her that while we’re snuggled up on the sofa watching Spider Man Three, I’m secretly undressing James Franco with my eyes? Of course not…”

The special bond takes a turn for the worse when Suze decides to start dating again. She hasn’t had a man in her life since Megan’s father left ten years ago.

Enter two mysterious young men, Megan’s new classmate, sinfully attractive bad boy, Guy Matson, and the dangerously handsome art dealer, Armando. Before long Megan and Suze both wind up in steamy relationships.

But neither of the handsome pair is quite what he seems. In fact, one of them is Satan, with his sights set on a new bride. Megan has precious little time to figure out how to stop him. If she doesn’t, either Megan or Suze are quite literally going to HELL.

Review:
I knew when I saw this title I had to read this book. Can you imagine after having a super close relationship with your mother for several years its just you and her then one day she decides she wants to date again. I can't honestly picture it not when I was a teenager anyway.

I enjoyed the relationship Megan had not just with her mother but with her best friends. Then this cute boy walks in her life, a bad boy who has her doing things she would never dream of doing.I could honestly feel her frustration at times. Can I say too I was shocked at a certain moment, I so wasn't expecting that, I was imagining all sorts of situations but not the one it ended up being.

This book was very enjoyable I loved the connections to the characters and the storyline was written very well. I am really looking forward to reading the next book in the series Earth Angel to see how Megan continues on.

I would definitely recommend this book to all those who Angels, Battles with Satan a cute boy or two mixed with humor and drama. Pick this book up you won't regret it.

Interview with Stephen Jared Author of Jack and The Jungle Lion

Please Welcome Stephen Jared Author of Jack and The Jungle Lion, who stopped by to answer a few questions.

BLH: When did you begin Writing?
I started writing in my late teens.

BLH: Who is you mentor ? Who do you look up too?

I wish there had been a mentor for me. Instead, I learned by doing. The people I’ve looked up to most have tended to be film writers, probably because movies captured my imagination before books. Obviously, I’m a fan of the Indiana Jones series. Ted Elliot and Terry Rossio wrote some terrific modern adventure comedies. Probably my least obvious favorite writer is Woody Allen. Woody’s dialogue doesn’t depend on performance; it’s funny on the page. His stories go off on wildly imaginative trajectories. There’s a rhythm in his writing that probably stems from the music he likes. His films are like no others.

BLH: What is your reading pleasure ?

Mostly, I read adventure fiction, old Hollywood non-fiction, and I’ve read a lot of non-fiction about Modern Art. I’ve always been fascinated and inspired by Picasso.

BLH: If you have any favorite authors , who are they and why ?

My favorite authors are classic adventure authors -- Jules Verne, Rafael Sabatini, H. Rider Haggard, Arthur Conan Doyle. Their best works are full of enchantment and humor. The heroes seem both larger than life and real, which is possibly why they’ve lasted so long.

BLH: What part of the writing process do you love ? What part do you hate?

It’s exciting to conceptualize something new, to imagine what it could be, to get an idea and extrapolate on it. I also love refining. The tone I strive for always comes to life as I edit and edit. But the middle part of writing– bringing all the big set pieces of the plot into a cohesive whole – can get laborious.

BLH: If you could write outside your genre what would that be?

Probably science fiction. I’d love to take a swing at it but probably never will. I think there are important elements to being a good sci-fi writer. I think you have to be technically minded, and I’m not. I also think you should be somewhat of a futuristic visionary, and I’m not. I’m too preoccupied with the past.

BLH: How did you come up with your premise for your books?

Jack and the Jungle Lion is rooted in a number of stories that were hugely influential when I was young. Romancing the Stone was probably the biggest influence. At its core, the story is about someone who always lives vicariously through a fictional hero then gets to live out a hero’s adventure for real, and on that journey discovers a more true self, and is then able to truly fall in love. My next book is a crime fiction, Ten-A-Week Steale, and it’s about a guy who has returned from World War I only to find corruption and lies among those in power. One of the most contemptible politicians happens to be his brother. I tried to intermingle high ideals with human frailty, and its set in Hollywood against a backdrop of 1920s glamour and decadence. It’ll be out before the end of the year.

BLH: What is scene is easier to write? Harder?

I have no trouble with dialogue. It comes easily for me. As an actor, I have to give dialogue a lot of thought, so that may be why it’s natural for me to write it and have fun playing around with it. Action, on the other hand, can get complicated.

BLH: If you could write with anyone who would that be and why?

I suppose the ultimate dream for me would be to write with George Lucas or Steven Spielberg. I have so much admiration for them, and would love to write something I think is great then have one of them explain to me what could make it better.

BLH: What would you like to say to your readers?

I’d just like to suggest that one copy might not be enough, that perhaps purchasing several copies for safekeeping might be worthwhile. And consider that family and friends might enjoy one of my books too. Family and friends should also have several copies for safekeeping. They make lovely gifts.

BLH: Where can your fans find you ?

I’m easily accessible through my website and/or Facebook.

Kelly's Review: The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society

The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society

By Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows

Published by: Random House Audio

First Printing: July, 2008

ISBN-13: 9780739368435

Amazon; Barnes and Noble; Goodreads

Concept: “January 1946: London is emerging from the shadow of the Second World War, and writer Juliet Ashton is looking for her next book subject. Who could imagine that she would find it in a letter from a man she'd never met, a native of Guernsey, the British island once occupied by the Nazis. He'd come across her name on the flyleaf of a secondhand volume by Charles Lamb. Perhaps she could tell him where he might find more books by this author." "As Juliet and her new correspondent exchange letters, she is drawn into the world of this man and his friends, all members of the Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society, a unique book club formed in a unique, spur-of-the-moment way: as an alibi to protect its members from arrest by the Germans." "Juliet begins a remarkable correspondence with the Society's charming, deeply human members, from pig farmers to phrenologists, literature lovers all. Through their letters she learns about their island, their taste in books, and the powerful, transformative impact the recent German occupation has had on their lives. Captivated by their stories, she sets sail for Guernsey, and what she finds there will change her forever." Written with warmth and humor as a series of letters, The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Vie Society is a celebration of the written word in all its guises, and of finding connection in the most surprising ways.” [From Goodreads.]

Review: I first noticed this book in Barnes and Noble one day many years ago. I thought it was an interesting title and in fact, it was interesting enough to make me pick it up and glance at it. I think I almost bought it and had to put it down in order to purchase another book. Fast forward a few years, and several of my friends have read and recommended this book to me but I always left it in the back of my priority list because it just didn’t seem very exciting to me. Fast forward again and one of my favorite friends on Goodreads recommended the book to me but in audio form. I was really intrigued with the idea of listening to an audio book and I asked what the best audio book was. In response, my friend urged me to get the audio of this book and to listen to it. Fast forward again to just a few weeks ago and lo and behold, I found it at my library and due to the wonders of having a Nook (not a Kindle, but a Nook, because if I had a Kindle, I wouldn’t be able to write this) I was able to download and listen to Guernsey in like 10 minutes time and that was only because I had to install some software that I didn’t already have installed. So that’s how I came to listen to this book rather than read it.

Also, before I get into my review, in preparation to write it, as I always do, I read other reviewers opinions. I was completely shocked to see that there were quite a few negative reviews on this book. I tell you, I was shocked. Most of the reviews I read cited a poor and unbelievable plot. So I will address those complaints in my review rather than go over why this is such an amazing book.

Listening to this book was a real treat. It was almost like watching a play. The artists that read their parts were delightful and I find myself speaking with a British accent even though I am a Valley Girl. The artists took me away to this time period and I could smell the salt air and hear the seagulls. You know why? Because I have an imagination and that’s what this author asked you to do. Just to relax and enjoy and use your imagination and go somewhere FUN for a change. Quit reading about vampire teenagers and hard ass chick paranormal slayers. If you do, if you can take the stick out of your ass and just ENJOY something for once, you will be pleased and rewarded. I didn’t just like this. I LOVED it. It is well worth the purchase of an audio version which is what I will be doing because this is something I will want to listen to again and again and again. I don’t think I’d ever want to read it though because it was just so perfect on audio.

Thank you to my friend Jennifer for recommending such a delightful and wonderful piece of journalistic joy.

What I liked: I loved, no, I ADORED the little bits of humor thrown in here and there that made me seriously stop and laugh. Real belly laughs. This is a love story of sorts and yet my favorite part about the book wasn’t the love story, but the people around the love story.

What I disliked: I dislike that these people aren’t real. I want to go and visit them and have a cup of tea and exchange recipes and books and some genuine life shares.

My rating: 5 feathers

Kelly's Review: JANE WAS HERE

JANE WAS HERE
By Sarah Kernochan
Published by: Grey Swan Press
First Printing: June 14, 2011
ISBN-10: 0980037727
ISBN-13: 978-0980037722
Amazon; Barnes and Noble; Goodreads

Concept: “A mysterious young woman called Jane appears in a small New England town. She claims a fragmentary memory of growing up in this place, yet she has never been here before in her life. Searching for an explanation, she arrives at the unthinkable: that she is somehow connected to a beautiful girl who disappeared from the town in 1853. Is she recalling a past life? Jane becomes convinced of it. As she presses onward to find out what happened in this town over 150 years ago, strange and alarming things begin happening to some of the town's inhabitants. A thunderhead of karmic justice gathers over the village as Jane's memories reawaken piece by piece. They carry her back in time to a long-buried secret, while the townspeople hurtle forward to a horrific event when past and present fatally collide.” [From Amazon.]

Review: I cannot go into the ins and outs of this story without giving away the plot or without explaining things in such detail that I might as well re-write the book so the basics are this: Jane shows up in a small town claiming that she’s been here before. Is it a reincarnation? Is it a spirit that has taken over Jane’s body? Are you involved yet? The townspeople get really involved in all this too. The underlying tone is about how past history can affect what is going on today but the true mystery to this book is who will pay for something that happened 150 years ago? Hmmm??? Whatcha think???

What I liked: This author was the screenwriter for the movie “What Lies Beneath” and also “9 ½ Weeks.” Okay, two different movies, but I had to point that out. Anyway, like in “What Lies Beneath” the story is slow to unfold even though when it does all come together, you have almost an “a-ha!” sort of moment. I like it when that happens. This book could transfer to the screen effortlessly. It would be a really good movie but this might be one of those cases where the movie may be better than the book.

What I disliked: Well I’m not crazy about the cover although in the alternative, I don’t know what I might suggest. I wasn’t overly fond of any of the characters in the book, I don’t care about what happens to any one of them. That was a little rough for me with this book.

My rating: 3.5 feathers
