Book Description:

Nothing burns as bright as the flames of the refiner’s fire.

Moments after hearing the Council sentence her enemy to life imprisonment for attempted murder and illegal use of magic, Darcy is whisked away by the Fates—accused of tampering with destiny. The cherished dream she shared with Mason has been called into question, placing doubt about whether they are actually true mates. To resolve it, a price must be paid—the Heart or Death—a grueling series of tests designed to reveal a person’s worth.

The stakes are high and Darcy finds herself facing the unknown in conditions that leave her more vulnerable than she’s ever been. Separated from Mason and her Pack, with Devlin as her only companion, she is pushed to her very limits. She must succeed—or lose everything.

Will she crumble under the pressure or emerge stronger for testing fate?

Review:

This is one book I have been waiting on since I finished book 2, Forget Me Not. Belinda is not called the Queen of Cliffhangers for nothing.  It nearly drove me insane waiting for this book but finally it's live and I dove immediately into it today.  And I can say, Belinda has another winner on her hands. I had said prior to getting my little hands on this book, I would savor it and read it nice and slow. Well that was impossible to do. I devoured it and now crave more.

It picked up where we left off in the second book and what a wild rollercoaster ride this book was. Good thing I was left home alone today or I think my family would have thought I was insane talking to the screen and screaming out loud at some parts and of course a few tears shed as well.

I love these characters so much they feel like family to me, Mason, Darcy and especially Devlin (sigh I am so in love with this vampire). I was happy to get a bit of background on Devlin too in this book. But and yes there is a but we again have a monsterous cliffhanger .. okay maybe I am exaggarating a bit but still wow I so didn't expect what she gave us at all. Which is one reason I do love her books so much I can never predict what is going to happen next.

I honestly could ramble on and on , I loved this book and hope this series goes on forever , I wanna see Mason and Darcy have 20 kids... okay that's a bit much but you get the point. Now I have to suffer and wait til book 4 comes which I hope and pray it's not too long...

Bewitching Book Tours: The Chosen by Theresa Meyers: Guest Post, Review and Giveaway

Please give a warm welcome to Theresa Meyers, author of The Chosen. I am a huge fan of hers. So I am super excited to have her at BLH.

Why Rain Makes the Best Writers
By Theresa Meyers

Since I’m here today at Book Lover's Hideaway, I thought it only appropriate to talk about why rain makes the best writers. I live in Washington, so we get plenty of opportunity to test the theory. But if you look at the writer’s groups locally, there’s a plethora of fantastic writers. I blame the rain. Seriously.

When I lived in Arizona, there were days you looked out at the cloudless blue sky in the morning and wished for some kind of cloud or weather disturbance, just to break the monotony. Having spent a good part of my teens in the Pacific Northwest, I had this inexplicable urge to be working outside whenever the sun was out. It’ was like a mandate from Mother Nature, which conversely meant that I didn’t get a whole lot of writing done unless it was pen on paper and I detest writing in long-hand because I can’t keep up with my own story in my head. Now it might have been having two teeny people in diapers and nursing at the same time, but I like to think I could have worked on stories even then.

But when we moved back to the Pacific Northwest after about a decade a wonderful thing happened: rainy days. When it’s raining outside, there is no compulsion to get out of your desk chair, away from your computer and work outside. You know it’s ridiculous so you don’t even try. It’s far more tempting to settle in with a nice hot cup of tea at the keyboard and let the imagination soar.

That’s one reason I think rain makes better writers.

The second is because once you’re housebound, you don’t have much choice but to deal with the stir-crazy stories in your head. Writers are a little different than most people. One of the questions I often get, especially when I talk to groups of young writers, is “Where do you get your ideas from?” I try to explain that it’s not so much a process of going out and searching for the ideas as siphoning them off of my brain so that my head doesn’t explode with the sheer volume of them crowded up in my cranium. Writers see stories everywhere. They materialize just when we’re the busiest, on deadline, trying to juggle dinner, homework and the checkbook, or when we are doing the most mundane things like washing dishes or walking the dog.

That’s why I think the rain helps. In Arizona, when the rain comes it pours down in buckets and sheets like someone unzipped the sky and let it all drain out in one big slosh of water. In Washington, it’s more of this constant. It might be a drizzle that you feel like an idiot taking out an umbrella for, but you’ll get soaked if you don’t. Or it might be this steady pelting that goes on for months. But because it is somewhat of a constant (except for those glorious few weeks of summer and a few nice days in mid-winter) it becomes mundane, like walking the dog. It somehow lulls the brain into a state of creativity.

Of course, it’s also far easier to imagine the Victorian streets in their misty haze, when our weather in Washington isn’t much different than London’s. Which makes writing steampunk, like my latest release THE Chosen, so much easier. It’s not like I had to go that far to know what being soaked to the skin in a hazy drizzle feels like.

The third reason rain makes better writers is because of the old saying “April showers bring May flowers.” The rain allows us to be creative for long stretches, but it also allows us to appreciate so much more the end result. It’s like a sunny day here in Washington. When it comes, you revel in it. Those spots and momentary celebrations are exactly how a writer’s life goes. Work for long stretches, more of it dreary than not, and in the end you get a brief moment of euphoria. It’s enough to keep you going because that moment is so brilliant and bright.

So say what you will, but I think the rain makes us better writers

Book Description:

The Chosen: a prophecy older than dirt and more dangerous than death. Even as they perfected steam-powered gadgetry and rounded up varmints from Hell, the Jackson brothers didn't believe in it. But when the chips are down, three brothers named for weapons aren't going out without a fight...

A Walk On The Wild Side

Attorney by day, demon-hunter by night, Remington Jackson is used to being on the sunny side of the law, even in the Wild West. But it's showdown time, and Remy and his brothers are getting desperate. They don't have the relic they need to slam the door shut on evil—so Remy is going to have to find and steal part of it.

Enter China McGee, shapeshifter, thief, beauty, and current prisoner. When Remy offers her freedom in exchange for a little light-fingered help, she's pretty sure she's going to end the association with a good old-fashioned seductive double cross. But there's something about fighting through a jungle full of Aztec ruins that makes you want to settle down together. China could change. Remy might be special. But none of that matters if the devil takes them all...

Review:
I have been a fan of Theresa Meyers for a long time, I had read the first book in this series a long time ago and it had been my first Steampunk and I wasn't sure what I was getting into when I had but I immediately fell in love with The Jackson Brothers,  falling head over heels for Colt in the very first book.  And though I have to admit I haven't read the second book, The Slayer I fully intend too . Sorry for the ramble but back to the subject at hand. This book, The Chosen.

(Potiential Spoiler in the next paragraph) though I try very hard not too.

This book didn't disappoint me in fact I enjoyed and might even like Remington a bit more than Colt.  What I loved about this book, was really I feel I didn't miss a thing not reading the second book, this is partly the same story but told in Remington's view .  So it left a smile on my face recalling how it was in the Hunter.  Though I didn't remember China and Lilly not getting along . It did leave me chuckling how both women where with these Jackson brothers, jealously seeping through even though China wasn't sure which one she was jealous for at this moment.  I can't say as I blame these these Jackson Brothers are steamy hot.

Yes yes I would highly recommend anything that Theresa Meyers writes! She could write a to do list and I sure as hell would buy it to read it. Love this series, love these characters..  She is definitely on my auto buy list.

Book Description

They're the Chosen—Winchester, Remington and Colt—brothers trained to hunt down supernatural beings using the latest steam-powered gadgetry. It's a hard legacy to shoulder, and it's about to get a lot more dangerous. . .

A Devil Of A Job

Colt Jackson has gotten his name on many a wanted poster with success in the family business: hunting supernaturals across the frontier.

Lately, though, there's a sulfur stink in the wind and the Darkin population is exploding. A rift in the worlds is appearing. To close it, Colt will have to do the unthinkable and work with a demon to pass arcane boundaries no human alone can cross.

Except when he summons his demon, he doesn't get some horned monstrosity: he gets a curvy redheaded succubus named Lilly, who's willing to make a bargain to become human again. He also gets Lilly's secret expertise on the machinations on the dark side of the rift. And her charm and cleverness help to get them out of what his silver-loaded pistol and mechanical horse can't. Of course, when all hell breaks loose, he might have to sacrifice his soul. But what's adventure without a little
risk?

Vampirerotique Winter Book Tour: Character Interview with Sera : by Felicity Heaton : Giveaway

Please give a warm welcome to Sera and Felicity who are stopping by BLH today. Interview with Sera from Seduce by Felicity Heaton

It’s great to be here today at Book Lovers Hideaway as part of my Vampirerotique Winter Tour celebrating the series and my latest release, Bewitch.

Today, I’ll be talking to the heroine of the third book in the Vampire Erotic Theatre romance series, the very lovely Sera.

Sera is an elite vampire, and she’s practically a baby as far as most are concerned. Turned only thirty years ago by a former star of Vampirerotique, Sera has been too busy learning what it takes to be a vampire and settling into her extraordinary new life and world to care about any serious relationship. Until she sees Antoine for the first time. Sera has never had confidence, and blushes at the stage shows at Vampirerotique and can barely bring herself to watch them. She’s shy and reticent, but when push comes to shove, she finds her inner goddess in order to shatter the ice encasing Antoine’s heart and sets out to seduce him. She’s a woman who will do whatever it takes to get what she wants, but underneath her newfound confidence is still a heart that beats with warmth and feeling, and when she uncovers the terrible secrets that were hidden in Antoine’s dark heart, she will do whatever it takes to heal the scars of his past.

Read on to find out more about Sera from the vampire herself.

FH: I have Sera here with me today to talk about her book, Seduce. Firstly, can you tell us a little about yourself?

SERA: Sure. I was turned a little over thirty years ago by Elizabeth. She was Vampirerotique’s top female performer until she decided to quit. She spent fifty years working at the theatre and it was her idea that we started attending the performances. She’s all about having fun and sometimes I find it hard to keep up. I’m not naturally outgoing like she is, and sometimes I can’t bring myself to watch the things that happen on the stage.

FH: I don’t think that’s just because you’re shy though, is it? *she shakes her head* In Seduce, you meet Antoine. How did you meet and how did you feel about him initially?

SERA: I first saw him during one of the performances. I thought he was just another elite vampire stretching his legs during the show, but Elizabeth caught me looking and explained that he was one of the owners, and an aristocrat too. That revelation explained a lot about him. Every time we attended a performance at Vampirerotique, I found my eye drawn to him. He’s so gorgeous. I don’t think there was a woman in the audience who would refuse such a man anything he desires, and now he’s all mine.

FH: He certainly is, but the path to true love didn’t exactly run very smoothly did it? It was more than a little challenging for you.

SERA: God, yes. Antoine can be very infuriating.

FH: *laughs* Funnily, he said the same thing about you.

SERA: *eyes wide* He did? Ugh, I’ll be having words with him about that later.

FH: He only said that you were infuriating when you refuse to respect him as your elder and an aristocrat.

SERA: *shrugs* I think Lilah has been rubbing off on me. She’s always complaining about aristocrats and elites and the silly politics of it all. Sometimes Antoine and Javier have that look when we’re together... the one that reveals how unimpressed they are by our behaviour and that if we’re lucky they might just punish us later.

FH: If you’re lucky?

SERA: *grins* Well... I can’t exactly call Antoine flexing his muscles and dominating me anything other than a reward rather than punishment... I love it when he goes all alpha on me. I think Lilah loves it when Javier plays the boss too, and that’s why we stir them up.

FH: I think we should probably go back to some safer questions. Your relationship with Antoine is complicated because he closed himself off to feeling. Was it difficult to break down his defences?

SERA: Absolutely. Like I said, he was completely infuriating. When he revealed to me just why he had closed himself off, I began to understand him a little better and I accepted that he had his reasons for keeping his distance. I respected that, but I refused to see why he had to be alone his whole life when Snow had allowed so many people into his heart. There were times I thought I would lose my battle against Antoine but in the end, I found the courage to stick to my guns and I beat down his defences.

FH: You had some help though. Snow can be quite the stirrer too. How has life been since the events that happened and brought you together?

SERA: Up and down. Most of the time things are wonderful between us but there are moments when Antoine just has so much pressing down on him and he can’t handle all the pressure. I’m always there for him then and I do whatever I can to ease his burden. I spend a lot of my time taking care of Snow, so Antoine can focus on the business and his work. I’m no good at the business side of stuff at the theatre, but I can keep Snow company and I know that it eases Antoine whenever I’m with Snow. He prefers it when his brother isn’t alone. We even go for walks around the theatre sometimes and tease the others. Snow loves to tease. He often wants to annoy Antoine when he’s busy and I do my best to stop him but I have to admit that sometimes I let him and we’ll sit in Antoine’s office making observations about him until he grows so irritated that he kicks us both out. Of course, I make up for it all later back in our apartment.

FH: I bet you do. It sounds as though Antoine has his hands full with you. Your story, Seduce, is a book in a series. Can you tell us a little about the series and can we expect see more of you in other stories in this series?

SERA: Well, as far as I can tell, it’s all about some pervert bachelors who run a dirty theatre.

FH: I’m sure they would love to hear you call them that. Be serious.

SERA: *grins* Okay. Whenever I mention the whole dirty theatre thing, they always tell me that it’s tasteful. I generally roll my eyes. Back to the question. I’m in some more of the romances. I really loved it when Chica came to the theatre.

FH: Chica?

SERA: You know, Andreu’s succubus? Apparently, she chose the name. We all call her Chica. Andreu made it law that we’re not to ask her about her real name. When she came to the theatre, it was the most fun I’d had in a long time. Seeing Andreu so stirred up and no one knowing what to do about her. I was angry with Antoine but he honestly didn’t know what would happen and I feel so sorry for him. At least Chica has forgiven him.

FH: Before you give away everything... let’s bring our interview to a close. Describe yourself in one word?

SERA: Infuriating, apparently. *smiles* Antoine calls me temptress. Personally, I prefer determined.

FH: I think you’re all three of those things. Thank you for meeting with me today and chatting. Is there anything else that you’d like to add?

SERA: I’m going to find Antoine’s interview and read it to see what else he said about me. Did he sound stuffy? Sometimes he sounds so stuck up. He doesn’t mean to but he was born a very long time ago, as he likes to remind me. Thanks for having me here! Don’t forget to interview Snow, because he really wants to talk about his story with you, and he’s horribly bored at the moment... and when he’s bored, he’s prone to troublemaking, and with Chica in the theatre, the dastardly duo might just send Antoine into a fit of rage and that isn’t good for his bloodlust. I don’t want to have to kick some butt but I will if they upset Antoine.

FH: Noted. I’ll do my best to distract Snow with his interview. I’m actually talking to you before talking to him, but I believe his interview has aired first. It should be interesting at the very least... a bloodbath at most.

I hope you have all enjoyed this insight into Seduce and life at Vampirerotique through the eyes of one of the sassy heroines!

Antoine stands apart from the world around him, a dangerous and broken soul who must maintain rigid control at all times or risk his dark addiction finally seizing hold of him. The shadows of his past haunt him and he sees his bleak future each night when his brother wakes screaming, his blood addiction turning him savage. He cannot allow himself to feel, but when Sera walks into Vampirerotique, the erotic theatre he runs with three other vampires, to audition, she awakens dangerous desires in him—hungers that could spell the end of both of them.

Sera has wanted Antoine since the night she first saw the gorgeous aristocrat vampire. She can’t ignore the deep carnal hunger he stirs in her or the ache to know the heat of his touch. With the help of her sire, an ex-performer at Vampirerotique, she sets in motion a game of seduction, one designed to thaw the ice in Antoine’s veins and make him burn for her.

When Sera discovers the shocking truth about his past and the darkness that lurks within him, will she be strong enough to seize his heart with both hands and win him forever or will she lose him to the ghosts that still haunt him?

Review:
I have been wanting to read Felicity Heaton for awhile now so when I was contacted about joining this tour I jumped at the chance. This book is the first book I have read by her and I can honestly slap myself for not reading anything by her sooner.

Though this is the fifth book in her Vampire Erotic Theatre Romance and I haven't read the previous books . I still found I could understand and enjoy this hot and I mean hot steamy read. It  was a perfect read on this cold and blistery night.

Payne oh how I love thee, my heart broke for this half incubus half vampire. He was bitter, angry and hurt deeply from his past  Elissa finds that Payne is perfect to help him retrieve something she lost. IF she can get him to accept his Incubus half.  Can they both get over their fears to embrace their attraction to each other and get back what both of them were searching for?

This book was an amazing ride, did I mention how hot and steamy this read was .. If you are a big fan of vampires, lots and lots of steamy scenes , action and much more. Check out Felicity Heaton if you haven't already I know I will be reading more of her in the future. In fact I will be back tracking on this series to read it from the beginning.

Book Description:

In this pulse-pounding and thrillingly sensual novel, New York Times bestselling author Lara Adrian returns to the mesmerizing world of the Midnight Breed, following new characters into a dark future where an uneasy peace can unravel into war—and a great betrayal can mask an all-consuming love.

Twenty years after the terror of First Dawn—when mankind learned that vampires lived secretly among them—the threat of violence reigns as the two species struggle to coexist. The only group preserving the fragile harmony is the Order, an elite cadre of Breed warriors dedicated to protecting humans and vampires alike. And in this precarious world of torn loyalties and shattered trust, Mira, a fiery squad captain, finds that every fight bears an intensely personal cost.

Raised among the Order, Mira has always believed in the warrior’s code of swift—and even lethal—justice. But the one thing she desires more than the Order’s hard-won acceptance is Kellan Archer, a sexy but troubled Breed fighter. In love with him since childhood, Mira once broke through his tough exterior during an unexpected night of rapture, but the next day he mysteriously disappeared, never to return.

Kellan didn’t think he would ever see Mira again—or have to confront the truth of why he left. After abandoning the Order years ago, he now leads a band of human rebels intent on carrying out their own vigilante rule of law. Yet a high-profile kidnapping assignment brings him face-to-face with the past he sought to avoid, and the striking woman he has tried desperately to forget. And as tensions mount and the risk of bloodshed grows, Kellan and Mira must take sides—between the competing missions that dominate their lives, and the electrifying passion that claims their hearts.

Review:
I fell in love with Mira back during Nikolai and Renata's book and I just knew she was going to be someone special and her book proved that. What more can I say ? Miss Adrian didn't disappoint. I have loved every single one of her Midnight Breed books. And this one was no exception.

I might have to say this is my favorite out of the series, I know you might think I have said this previously and I probably have, but this one grabbed me and didn't let go until I finished. Believe me when I say I had trouble putting this one down and when I did (very reluctantly I might add), I still kept thinking about Mira and Kellan. It was so great to revisit all my favorite characters and meet some new ones as well. It was honestly like coming home.

If you haven't read any of the Midnight Breed I would highly suggest you do so. Lara Adrian has built a wonderful world I love to visit any chance I get. And is in the top favorite authors of all time as well as a auto buy each and everytime she has a release.

J. A. Huss likes to write new adult books that make you think and keep you guessing. She has an undergraduate degree in horses, (yes, really-Thank you, Colorado State University) and a master's degree in forensic toxicology from the University of Florida. She used to have a job driving around Colorado doing pretty much nothing but shooting the breeze with farmers, but now she just writes, runs the New Adult Addiction and Clean Teen Reads Book Blogs, and runs an online science classroom for homeschoolers.
