Q. Jumping Genres: Ever pick up a book from a genre you usually don't like and LOVE it? Tell us about it and why you picked it up in the first place.
A. I have to say Contemporary- It's not that I don't like it, its just I sometimes just want to escape and I don't feel I do with Contemporary, it feels to real for me. But one book made me change my mind and
Decadent Dreams by Ty Langston, wow that book was amazing.
Haven't heard of that one. I enjoy the occasional YA contemps, but for the most part I'd rather get lost in something paranormal or fantasy! Happy Friday :)
ReplyDeleteMy Friday Hops
Same here, I am just a paranormal kind of girl but one reason I started my blog was that I was hoping to try other things and see if I like it.
DeleteI totally understand the lack of ability to escape into contemporary because they are just too normal sometimes. (That said? I'm a total fluffy romance girl for my escapes sometimes...)
ReplyDeleteStop by and see this weeks TGIF / Follow Friday!
I admit I am a fluffy romance girl, I want the HEA at the ending I wanna finish with a smile on my face.
DeleteThanks for stopping by.
I hear you, escapism is key! I'll be sure to look out for Decadent Dreams!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my My FF!
Happy Friday!
It is and before Decadent Dreams I thought no way would I get that and wow I was wrong. She made me rethink my opinion on Contemporary.
DeleteHm. Never heard of that book before. I might have to check it out. But I normally read YA contemporary as well. Interesting choice.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by,
@ Livin' Life Through Books
Thanks, I got it for review and I was really surprised how fast I read it.

Happy Reading,
Becky @ Book Bite Reviews
Thanks for the follow, Ty Langston I love her. She is great author.
DeleteThanks for stopping by and the follow.
Hopping through. I've always been a fan of contemporary. It used to be the only fiction I'd read. Now I vary my reading with fantasy and paranormal.
ReplyDeleteMy Hop
I really just struggled with it lately, I used to read it all the time back when I was in my late teens(Danielle Steele mostly).
DeleteWow, this looks like an incredibly sexy book! Thanks for stopping by! My Follow
ReplyDeleteIt's really good, steamy but not too :)
DeleteThanks for stopping by.
Haven't read it yet, but I'm loving the cover :D
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog :D
I love the cover too, I can't wait for the sequel to this book.
DeleteThanks for stopping by.

Paranormal Romance
It's so good, I hadn't known what to think as I am iffy about Contemporary but it surprised me just how much I loved it.
DeleteThanks for stopping by and following
I understand what you mean by wanting to escape and contemporary is a bit... less imaginative than other genres such as historical romance or PNR. I love reading anything and everything. Just throw in some romance, preferably some nookie if it's not YA, and I'm good to go, LOL.
ReplyDeleteThanks for following! Followed you back :0)
LOL, I am hoping I can find another Contemporary that will do what this book did. Yes I love romance especially the nookie :)
DeleteThanks for stopping by and following.
I stopped reading contemporary when the plots became trite and predictable. Might give this one a try though.
ReplyDeleteHere's my Follow Friday.
I'm also having a Giveaway, so come on by and enter.
You should it was amazing at least for me.
DeleteThanks for stopping by.
I don't read contemp very often. Maybe this will be the book to bring me over.
ReplyDeleteOld follower.
I hope you like it as much as I have.
DeleteThanks for stopping by.
I like contemp and fantasy. Contemp because it can be more relatable and fantasy to escape from that reality. lol. Nice pick.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog!
Following back :)
I can't handle comtemp myself.
ReplyDeleteHere's my Friday Hops
Have a GREAT weekend!
Old Follower :)
What gets me, is that I used to read it all the time in my teens(Danielle Steele) then I found Historical Romance and Paranormal and now I just found I couldn't get into like I had before.
DeleteThanks for stopping by, Have a great weekend too.
I don't like contemporary either... Hope you have a great weekend - Old follower :)
ReplyDeleteAlexia - Here is My FF Post
I found with this book and loved at least this book so much I thought about taking another look at Contemporary.
DeleteI'm exactly the same with contemporary - thanks for stopping by my blog! Haven't actually read this one, but might give it a try!
ReplyDeleteYou should I was pleasantly surprised. Thanks for stopping by.
DeleteI so agree. That is exactly why I don't read contemporary. Haven't heard of this book though. Thanks for stopping by, old follower
ReplyDeleteI haven't tried another sense but I know I want to read the sequel to this book. Thanks for stopping.
DeleteMy favorite genre is actually contemporary...I love the "issues" stuff more than the light ones. I've always felt it opens my eyes to different people and situations.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by LIO!
You know I hadn't thought of it that way, maybe I will read more with that frame of mind. Thanks for stopping by.
Deletethe cover makes me think romance
ReplyDeleteIt is Contemporary Romance but oh so good, Thanks for stopping by.
DeleteI'm the same way: I get much better escapism from non-contemporary stuff!
ReplyDeleteI do for some reason, for example Historical or Paranormal its just such a fantastic world the author's build, I feel like i live there but its not real which makes it better for an escape at least to me.
DeleteI didn't know this one but I'm glad you enjoyed it. it sounds nice.
ReplyDeleteIt was very good, Thanks for stopping by.
DeleteI haven't had the chance to check this title out yet, but I've come to find that most YA contemporary books are good.
ReplyDeleteThanks for checking out my FF! :)
I been wanting to give YA Contemporary a try, especially Anna and the French Kiss.
DeleteThanks for stopping by.
I'm also a fan of contemporary because of the escape-ism factor :) I'm still working on ending my elitism and branching out, ha.
ReplyDeletethanks for stopping by! hopping through! :)
have a great weekend!
LOL so am I its hard though. Thanks for stopping by.
DeleteI've not heard of that book before.
ReplyDeleteMy FF

ReplyDeleteI haven't had a BIG problem with contemporary but I have always been sort of "iffy" with it! Great choice!! Thanks for stopping by!!
ReplyDeleteElle@Love Bigg Read Bigg
Yea I think that is my issue too. Thanks for stopping by.
Deletehmm same here. I don't read a lot of contemporary so it's always nice when I go back because they're so different from paranormal romance! Thanks for stopping by!

I feel the same about Contemporary but Perfect Chemistry changed my mind! I will always be a paranormal junkie though :D Thanks for stopping by my #FF
ReplyDeleteNew follower via GFC!
I am going to have to read, Perfect Chemistry, I have heard such good things about. Oh yea definitely will always be a paranormal junkie. :)
DeleteThanks for stopping by.
Great answer! Thanks for stopping by earlier. I'll answer your question here: for a Chick Lit I would recommend What Alice Forgot. It's a bit more serious than the "real" Chick Lit, but I enjoyed it a lot. I think it's a great read to get to know the genre!
ReplyDeleteHappy Friday!
Thanks I will check it out.
DeleteI've read some contemporary books but I don't have too much of an issue with them.
ReplyDeleteAfter this one I like them a bit more :)
DeleteI agree about contemporary. It doesn't really take you away to another place. It gives you stuff that could happen in real life and I don't find that exciting. Thanks for visting My FF
ReplyDeleteFollowing you back. =]
Michael @ The Bookshelf Review
That's exactly how I feel, but with this book, I wouldn't mind reading them every now and again :) just not as much as I read Paranormal.
DeleteHaven't heard of this one by I like the cover.. def gonna check it out. I like contemp. :)

I think you will like this one, I was looking around on your blog and we seem to have the same taste.
DeleteI actually totally agree with your view on Contemporary books! I do enjoy them but no matter how many I have on my shelf waiting to be read, I'll always go out of my way to read a Fantasy novel instead. I'll have to check out the one you recommended though (:
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by!

Same here, they always get pushed to the back of my list or pile.
DeleteI LOVE reading a good contemporary book after a bunch of different paranormal books!
ReplyDeleteHave an awesome weekend and thanks for stopping by my blog!! I am a new follower :)
I do that with historical switch off from paranormal to historical but might throw in a contemporary now and again.
DeleteI haven't heard of that one, although I totally understand tending to shy away from Contemporary in lieu of more escapist fiction. That's what I normally do too, although right now I'm actually on a tiny bit of a Contemporary kick. It's weird.
ReplyDeleteOld follower.
Thanks for stopping by my FF!
I wouldn't mind being on a kick too to do something different.
DeleteI agree, I prefer paranormal romance & fantasy over contemporary. Thanks for stopping by my blog! =)Returning the follow
ReplyDeleteoh yea without a doubt. Thanks for stopping by.
DeleteI feel the same way about contemporary, and how it doesn't always feel like you can escape reality.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog! :)
