Feature and Follow # 10

Photobucket
Follow Friday is a meme hosted by Parajunkee and Allison Can Read

Q: Activity! Who is your to-die-for book crush? What do you think they look like? Add an image to make us all happy.
My answer: I love this question though, I have so many I will try and just narrow it down to at least two. My first one is Acheron by Sherrilyn Kenyon, oh this man is everything I love in a character and wished for in a man (shhhh don't tell my honey I said that). This is who Sherrilyn imagined as Acheron and it's who I pictured since then.

My second is Eric Northman, in the Sookie Stackhouse series by Charlaine Harris,  what is there to say about this guy, He defines the word sexy and the bad boy with a hidden heart of gold. 'sigh'
I have so many more, Zsadist from the BDB, Maddox from Lords of the Underworld, Bowen from the IAD. I better stop there or we will be here all night.

Remember, we have two giveaways going on .. one will be ending in 4 days. Click HERE to enter the our second blogoversary giveaway which ends real soon.  And Click HERE to enter our Follower Appreciation Giveaway which ends Jan 4th.

Release Blitz: Masks of a Tiger by Doris O'Connor

Masks of a Tiger by Doris O'Connor

Blurb:

Neeve doesn't understand why any normal person would choose to wear a collar like a common house pet. So, the collaring ceremony of her best friend's sister-in-law is the last place she wants to be, even if the hot men watching her send her insides aflame.

Never one for missing the opportunity to teach a bratty sub manners, Grisha intends to show the fiery little redhead the error of her ways. He doesn't expect to see her drawn to the flame like the proverbial moth. When she hurts herself in ways that even a Dom of his experience finds hard to witness, he knows he needs to help her.

Will their sexual chemistry be enough to chase away their demons and burn away their masks? Or is the submission Grisha demands too much for Neeve to accept?

 Warning excerpt is Very Steamy!
 Excerpt:

The deep, animalistic growl erupting from his chest caused more of her juices to flood her pussy, and she hastily followed his order of, "Hang on to me, sweetheart. We need to take this to the dungeon."

The way he said the word dungeon sent a shiver down her body, as images of him in another dungeon filled her mind. The barely functioning rational side of her brain screamed at her what the fuck she was doing, but her body just wasn't listening. Being this close to him, the need to stay in his arms consumed her. Her empty pussy ached to be possessed by this man. The heat of his thick, rock hard cock burned her through his jeans, and when he placed her on the huge bed dominating one side of the room, she didn't want to lose the contact. He chuckled into her neck and licked the sensitive skin. The curiously rough texture of his tongue sent her nerve endings tingling, and she locked her ankles behind his butt, and ground her clit against him again.

God, she was so close, so damn close, if only…

Her eyes flew open, and the world tilted when he disentangled himself from her in one easy move. Before she knew what happened he had her lying over his knees, her dress pulled up to her hips, thong pulled down to her knees pinning them together. One of his arms over her back held her down.

"Don't move, sweetheart, or this will hurt." She froze. Surely he wouldn't spank her? And why did the thought of that make more of her juices leak out of her? Why was she not screaming no, or red, or whatever the hell one screamed in such circumstances? Instead, she was in danger of staining his jeans with her arousal.

"Don't you dare spank me. I'm not five years old!" Even to her own ears the protest sounded feeble, and Grisha swatted her ass several times in quick succession. The force behind those swats pushed her further into his lap, and tears sprang to her eyes. He massaged her ass cheeks, and the hot burn eased and spread in tingles of awareness. Her pussy clamped, and she felt the wetness on the top of her thighs.

"Bastard! You have no right, you … oh—What are you doing? Oh God, yes, don’t stop."

Grisha's amused chuckle vibrated through her, as he trailed something cold and smooth along her slit repeatedly. He followed the object with his fingers, the heat of those digits burning a path of awareness along her labia. She jumped when he circled her clit, and he murmured his approval at her panted reaction. She tried to push herself against that hand, and she screamed in surprise when he pinched her clit.

"That's not the way this works, sweetheart. You'll come when I let you, not before, and not until you tell me the truth."

Again he traced her slit with the object, and Neeve bucked when it started vibrating. He pushed the toy slightly into her channel, and her cunt clamped around the barely there invasion, her internal muscles desperately trying to pull it in further to no avail. Grisha kept it there on the edge, driving her insane with the need to come. The orgasm hovered just out of her reach, and she groaned her frustration to the floor, pummeling his legs in the process.

Another swat to the ass was her reward. Her tender flesh stung and burned, the slight pain adding to the assault on her senses.

"So, what will it be, Neeve? Are you going to tell me the truth, or do I carry on with your punishment?" "P-punishment?"

Neeve panted the words as her body climbed again. "You call this punishment? Is that all you've got?"

Why she felt the need to goad him she couldn't say, but by God, her body might be betraying her, but that didn't mean that she would give in that easily.

"No, sweetheart, I call this torture, and I can keep this up for hours." She heard the smile in his voice, but there was an unmistakable edge of command in those words, and her stomach clenched in excitement.

"You're so fucking wet for me, and your ass is so pink—it’s a beautiful sight, sweetheart. So tell me if you’re not a sub, then why is your essence staining my jeans? Why is that sweet cunt of yours quivering and weeping? It's just waiting for my thick cock to fill you, isn't it?"

He pushed the dildo all the way in, angling it until it hit her g-spot, and Neeve saw stars. He fucked her with merciless precision until she was a quivering mass of need and would have said anything to get off.

"Please, please … I need to come … please, Grisha."

The swat to her ass stung, and his voice could have cut glass.

"You will call me, Sir, sub. And you will answer my questions without evasion." He pushed the dildo all the way in and covered her slit with his hand, whilst the vibrations inside her increased to almost unbearable levels. He pushed one of his fingers into her anus, and Neeve screamed out loud. That felt way too good.

"Please, please, I will, please, just let me—"

"Let you what my sweet, Neeve? Let you come? Do you need to come?" His husky words in her ear grounded her, as he molded his naked chest against her back and pulled her hair until she looked sideways and up into his eyes. Glittering, golden orbs of intensity they pulled her into his will, and she couldn’t have looked away if her life depended on it.

"Yes," she whispered, and he smiled.

"Then what do you call me?"

 "Yes, Sir."

His brilliant answering smile of approval spread through her and left darts of heat along her skin.

"And you'll answer my questions?" he asked.

 "Yes, Sir."

"Then come, sweetheart. Come for me now."

Glutton for punishment would be a good description for Doris... at least that's what she hears on an almost daily basis when people find out that she has a brood of nine children, ranging from adult to toddler and lives happily in a far too small house, cluttered with children, pets, dust bunnies, and one very understanding and supportive husband. Domestic goddess she is not.

There is always something better to do after all, like working on the latest manuscript and trying not to scare the locals even more than usual by talking out loud to the voices in her head. Her characters tend to be pretty insistent to get their stories told, and you will find Doris burning the midnight oil on a regular basis. Only time to get any peace and quiet and besides, sleep is for wimps.

She likes to spin sensual, sassy, and sexy tales involving alpha heroes to die for, and heroines who give as good as they get. From contemporary to paranormal, BDSM to F/F, and Ménage, haunting love stories are guaranteed.

Happy Thanksgiving! What I'm Thankful For...

As we sit down with our families to celebrate with our families, some of which we see every day others not so much , We can reflect on what are we truly thankful for.   What am I thankful for?

1. I am thankful for a roof over my head, it might not be much but it shelters me and my family.

2. My family, which consists of in laws or in my case ex in law's but they are and have been there for me when I needed it the most.

3. My Son, though he is at the age where mom is the bad guy now and we bicker all the time. He is a true miracle , one I was told I would never have.

4.  A very special person that came back into my life after being apart for many years. This alone I am especially thankful for.

5.  This Blogging Community, without starting my blog I would have never met all of you great people to discuss what we all love , our passion for books.

6. To all the Authors,   Thank you for all the hard work you do to give us such pleasure and escape. Without you we wouldn't be able to enjoy our passion for reading.

And last but certainly not least , all of you followers. Without you BLH would be nothing but myself, Edna and Kelly just expressing our thoughts to ourselves.

Hope all of you have the Happiest of Thanksgivings!  And if you don't celebrate have a great day as well. It's almost the weekend!!!

 Excerpt:

He waved a hand in front of her face, but she didn’t blink. The lights are on, but no one’s home.

“Carly, my angel,” he whispered and cupped her cheek into his palm. He revealed in the silkiness and warmth of her skin. Still, she didn’t react. She was almost…a zombie.

His own body jerked in reaction to the fear she was emanating. She was clearly sleepwalking and in the throes of one hell of a nightmare, yet she didn’t cry out any longer. It was all now playing out inside her mind.

“Charlotte, see me,” he implored.

Her lips twitched at the mention of her real name.

“See me,” he repeated.

Suddenly, her body gave way and she collapsed. Catching her, he lifted her into his arms and carried her to the bed. As he laid her down, her breathing became ragged. He placed a hand over her heart as it raced, and passed healing calmness through his hand, feeling the energy pulsate against her skin. Beneath his hand, he would feel her heartbeat slow to a normal rhythm.

“Daniel?” Her voice was mere caress.

“I’m here, my angel. You’re having a nightmare. You’re frightened. It’s okay now, I’m here, and I will never leave you,” he promised.

“Everyone leaves, Daniel. You can’t understand, you can’t…” Her body started to tremble.

He climbed onto the bed and straddled her body. Leaning close to her face, he said, “Carly, let go of your fear. I can take it. Let go and see me,” he commanded.

Her breath came out in a whoosh, and a wall of fear and resistance hit him like a blow from above. It wasn’t exactly painful, more startling than anything else.

His vision flip-flopped, and he could see an image from inside her mind of two souls forever entwined as the result of one act. It made perfect sense. She was reliving the day their souls became one. The day of the fire.

He then saw black, suffocating water. She was reliving her own death, as well.

As the visions left him, he was consumed with the mishmash of fear, loneliness, and resistance within her.

He had to make her understand that it was over. “I will never leave you, Carly. That is my promise to you,” he insisted.

A flicker of life ignited in her eyes. Her hands came up to his face, and to Daniel’s surprise, tears bubbled from his own eyes. He was releasing the pain and fear he had absorbed from his beloved.

“I’m so sorry, Daniel, so sorry,” she murmured.

“There’s nothing to be sorry for, my love. It’s over. It’s time to move forward now.”

“You don’t understand what I am, Daniel.”

“I do understand, Carly. I am what you are. See me for what I am.”

In his mind, he could see the moving clockwork gears of her thoughts once again as she tried to process what he was telling her to be true.

“Just accept it, and let’s move forward.”

She drew his face to hers and her lips parted beneath his. Time blurred and he drank in the essence of his Carly. Her soft, barely covered curves molded themselves against his the hard planes of his body. Her hands were under his t-shirt, her fingers stroking him.

If he pressed on, he knew she wouldn’t refuse him. But in her vulnerable state, he wouldn’t let anything progress further that night. Carly needed time to process everything that happened. There was plenty of time to pursue a physical relationship. They weren’t going any where…he hoped.

BTS Tours: Review and Giveaway: Book of Death by S. Evan Townsend

Title: Book of Death
Author: S. Evan Townsend
Publisher: World Castle Publishing
Length: 266 pages
Sub-Genres: Vampires, Paranormal Entities

 BLURB:

They live among us. We know they are there. No government can control them; no authority can stop them. Some are evil. Some are good. All are powerful. They inhabit our myths and fairy tales. But what if they were real, the witches, wizards, and fairy godmothers? What if they were called "adepts" and were organized into guilds for mutual protection and benefit? And what if some of them discovered a power that other adepts could not match.

During the turbulent 1960s, when American adept Peter Branton agrees to go to Transylvania for the CIA, he suspects it's not about ball bearings as he was told. What he finds is a plot that could kill millions of people and plunge the world into eternal tyranny and bloodshed. Branton doesn't know it, but he's about to face the adept guilds' worst nightmare: practicing necromancers with a taste for human blood.

EXCERPT :

I'd never seen this type of meta before. At least I assumed that's what it was, as the wooden man inexorably walked toward me with a creak of moving wood, like tree branches in a heavy wind. It was raising its arms for another blow so I stepped back and shot an airbolt at it. I heard wood crack, but that didn't stop it. It swung again and its wooden fist pounded into my face, knocking me down and back on the sidewalk. Somewhere I heard screams and yells. A guy sitting on the sidewalk, his back to a storefront, muttered, "Wow, bad trip, man."

The Indian was bending over, its face expressionless except for the painted-on peace sign as it seemed to prepare for another attack. I shot fire at it, assuming old dry wood would ignite easily, and it did: the hippie dress went up in flames, and now the monster was a burning mass, still attacking me. It smacked me again with a flaming arm and I suffered from both the impact and the burns. Nearly screaming, I scrambled away on hands and knees. I don't think I'd ever been that scared. Still it came, oblivious to the fact it was on fire.

A motorcycle cop I hadn't noticed jumped off his bike, pulled his service revolver, and shot it into the Indian with six cracks of bullets being fired. It had no effect other than sending burning splinters of wood flying. The cop suddenly looked frightened, and was gripping his billy club but taking no further action.

People were screaming loudly now. I looked around, looking for an escape. If I could teleport away I might escape, but I could see no clear place to teleport to. Briefly I wondered what happened to Ernestine and if she were safe. I didn't sense the presence of another adept, but I didn't really have the ability to be quiet enough to do so. I just hoped she was okay.

The burning Indian smacked me again, hard, in the chest and I felt as if my feet left the ground as I was knocked into a car's side. I heard and felt sheet metal crumple and knew I'd hit the car hard. My vision was going gray. But I realized my shirt was on fire and that kept me from passing out; if I passed out I was probably dead. I pulled water from the air to douse the fire, but this took time and the Indian was on me again, even though it was moving very slowly.

I wondered if I'd survive until the wooden Indian had been consumed by the flames. It hit me again, knocking me to the sidewalk. There was an unpleasant smell and I realized my hair was burning. I used my bare hand to pat out the flames. This gave the Indian time to hit me again, hard. It almost felt as if I flew through the air and was slapped painfully to the sidewalk, the Indian still lumbering toward me.

In desperation I shot another airbolt at it. It must have been on the verge of falling apart because that hit blew it into flaming pieces that scattered over the street and also hit me, burning my skin or singeing my clothes. But it was no longer attacking.

 Review:
I agreed to read this book because after all everyone knows my love for the paranormal, no matter what era it is set in.  This book was filled with intrigue, mystery , a tad bit of  romance and lots of action.

In this book , Peter Branton is sent by the CIA to  Transylvania, to check out or so they say the making of ball bearings. What he finds is so much more than that.  Someone is practicing necromancy and tends to use it not for the greater good but could take out millions of people if not stopped.

I hadn't known this book was part of a series, until after I started it . And even though I was a bit confused in parts, I did enjoy this book. There was some things I figured out, but there was a twist in this book I didn't see coming and it truly surprised me.  I did like the fact , humans knew about the 'adepts' and also was smart enough to ask for their help when needed as well as gave them a wide berth , not sure so much out of respect but as they were leery of them.

Overall, this was a nice read, I did like.  Would I read the rest of books in this series? Absolutely! I think I am missing some key elements reading this book first, so I would love to back track and maybe I could understand them a bit more.

Review: Breaking Dawn Pt 2 : The End of a Wonderful Ride

First of all, I normally don't review movies but this one had to be told at least my thoughts on it. If I don't say what I feel I am going to burst.  That being said, I had time to sleep on it and I am still mind numb from what I saw.

For those who haven't seen it yet I will do my best and not spoil it for you.  I can sum it up in a few words IT  KICKED ASS!.  I admit I was a bit worried, questions rolled around in my head, Was it going to go by the book? Could they make it epic , being it was the last movie? You really wanted this series of movies to go out with a bang and let me say it did and then some.   In fact, I think this movie was better than the book. I never say that but this time I will.

What to say without giving anything away, this is hard. I loved how the family was with Renesmee, The interaction with this young girl left a smile on my face .Everyone, vampires and wolves gathered around to protect this young girl. Who by the way , couldn't have been played any better than by this cute actress.

Damn (I wish I could type out  frustration), I want to talk about the mind numbing twist, that left my brain in shock, my mouth dropped to the floor and If I had been home I probably would have screamed , threatened to pound on my tv and a few curse words would have flown out of my mouth during that part.  I will say though I never in my wildest dreams expected that to happen and after enjoyed every minute.  This wasn't in the book and it added that punch this movie needed.

Overall, I am still numb thinking back to that part as well as sad that this series of movies and books has come to a close.  I believe like others have said even if you hate it , go see this one , I think you might even enjoy it.  I know I did  but I am a Twi Fan and proud of it.!

What can I say about this one other than I just loved it to pieces.  Werewolves , especially Cass . who could blame Harper for being attracted to him.  When you mix music(my tied love with reading) and sexy werewolves this story is perfect for me.  If I mentioned my love for music in the last review, sorry for the repeat.  I just loved this continuation and I don't have anything negative at all to say other than  I need the next episode now , as in ASAP.

The Genesis Project
Can I just add I really love Xander but I am wondering what Adam is up too , Is he attracted to Genesis too?  Why does he want her to stay away from Xander . In my opinion I do like her with Xander better than anyone else and I hope it goes that way.  I can't wait to read on who she might choose.

The Getaway
This one drove me a bit nuts,  Mike's mother well lets just say I wanted smack her silly.  Can she get more annoying, I loved how Juliet handled her though.  This one again left off with a huge cliffhanger and I have to know what the answer is going to be.  I can't say much more because I don't want to give anything away.

Overall, I enjoyed the second episode as much if not more than the first and I want episode 3 like now , today ... okay I know that won't happen, but it was just that damned good.

Q: Books are turned into movies all the time! Turn it around. What movie would make a great book?

A. Right off hand I can't think of a movie but for a T.V show that I just recently discovered and fell in love with and that's Supernatural. I know I am a bit behind in jumping on the bandwagon with this show. But I just love it and I think it would make a fabulous book (series).

Be sure check out the many giveaways going on right now, two of them being a 2 year Blogoversary celebration .  And the 1000 + Follower Giveaway.

RABT Tours: Book Excerpt, Review and Giveaway:Matt Archer: Monster Hunter by Kendra C. Highley

Reading Addiction Blog Tours

Young Adult Title: Matt Archer: Monster Hunter
Author - Kendra C. Highley
Date to be Published: October 19, 2012

Synopsis:

Matt Archer, an ordinary freshman living in Montana, discovers something unusual on a camping trip with his uncle. Monsters are real. And living in his backyard.

But that's not the half of it...throw in a mystical knife, a covert military unit of soldiers dedicated to eliminating walking nightmares, and a prophecy about a dark war, and Matt finds himself in a job he never imagined: monster hunter.

All this insanity will leave him wondering which is tougher--killing monsters, or asking Ella Mitchell for a date.

 Excerpt:

Before I had a chance to dig out some marshmallows for s’mores, the air turned sharp and the wind gusted cold into the campfire, sending up sparks. Uncle Mike rose to his feet, with an intense, alert expression I’d never seen before—like he could eat a brick and enjoy the crunch.

Without looking at me, he said, “Weather’s changing; best to get inside the tent, where it’s warmer.”

With nothing else to do, we packed it in for the night. Mike didn’t allow me to bring a cell phone or anything else electronic on our trips. I could’ve played cards or something, but being outside always made me tired and I went to sleep early because, yes, I’m just that exciting. On the plus side, I had the craziest dream: Ella Mitchell ditched her boyfriend for me. That’s not weird—that’s plain, old wishful thinking. The weird part was that she hopped up on stage during assembly and stole the microphone from Principal Stevens to do it. Then I ran down the aisle to thunderous applause, swept her in my arms and….

“Get back!” Mike yelled.

I sat up in surprise to see shadows moving across the tent’s walls. One shadow was Mike's, distorted in the bright moonlight. The other…heck if I knew what it was. Bulky, taller than Mike by a long shot, it grunted and snorted like an angry pig. Was it a bear? I rubbed my eyes and squinted. No, definitely not a bear. The thing was much too big and shuffled along on two legs.

When it roared, it didn’t sound like any animal I’d ever heard, but more like a bulldozer’s engine. Every hair on my scalp stood up. Whatever this thing was, it wasn’t natural.

Review:
Matt, 14 goes camping one weekend with his Uncle Mike , when he finds out there are things that go bump in the night.  And in one night becomes the youngest monster hunter on a special ops team. In that one night everything he knows and his life as an ordinary teenager goes out the window.

I really enjoyed this book, a really good page turner. I found myself deeply engrossed in this book and when it ended, it left me craving for more. The characters were well written and I easily connected with them even though I haven't been a teenager for a very long time.

What I also liked was the monsters, they definitely were different than I have read about.  Not your typical type of supernatural creatures, that's for sure.  Would I recommend yes, if you are looking for something unique and different from the typical supernatural , this book is for you. I can tell you I really want to read more not only from this author, but I want to read more of Matt's adventures in the future.
