Reviews

“I just can't say enough good things about this book. Gabrielle Bisset has another hit on her hands!”--5 Hearts (Riverina Romantics)

“There were so many plot twists in this story! This is a fantastic series and I can not wait to read the next book!”--5 Rating/An Alpha Howl (Bitten By Paranormal Romance)

“The second Sons of Navarus book, Blood Betrayed, picks up where Blood Avenged left off and does it ever pick things up. In this second book, the war with the Archons is in full swing, and another Son is in danger. This is as much a must read as Blood Avenged is. Definitely, this is a New Favorite!” --5 Books (The Enchanted Book)

 Excerpt

The bedroom he'd stay in during what was quickly feeling like his incarceration was as nice as the rest of the house. A king-sized antique bed faced a fireplace, and he had his own bathroom.

Not bad for a prison.

"Maybe I won't have to see her except when she brings me French farm girls," he said with a grin as he laid back to relax on the bed. He didn't have much experience with French women—farm or otherwise—but he suspected they'd be much like any other human female. In all his travels around the world, he hadn't found much difference among human women.

Not that he necessarily paid attention. His time with them was a means to an end. More truthfully, two ends. He needed blood as a vampire to keep him connected to his world, and since none of his vampires were nearby, he'd drink from a human. And he needed that release sex provided—that moment of bliss that quieted the demons and memories.

That he only slept with human females had earned him the nickname "Saint" and a status as some kind of oddity in the vampire world. The sexual joining of sire and vampire was considered to be the most sublime facet of being a vampire sire, and that first taste of a newly-turned vampire's blood slowly teasing her sire's tongue as he entered her was a moment of sheer ecstasy.

Or so he'd heard. Never with any of the hundreds of females he'd sired had Saint slept with one of his vampires. Their turning had always been the same as with the males he'd sired. Of course, when his female vampires heard about what they'd missed out on from others, they asked and even begged for that closeness with him, only to be denied again and again.

The last vampire he'd made love to would be the only vampire to share that with him. He'd gone nearly one hundred years since then. He'd go another hundred or as long as he walked the Earth only sleeping with human women. That was part of his penance. He'd done it for so long, it was part of who he was.

In his limbs, he felt the sun begin to rise higher above the horizon, but restlessness kept him from some much-needed sleep. Being back in this house brought memories of Teagan back once again.

How many nights since hearing of his death had he spent thinking of him? Thoughts of a lifetime ago and the closeness of two brothers made vampire on the same night but by two very different sires crept into his mind.

His brother's sire, the son-of-a-bitch who'd consigned him to this place so full of the past, was nothing like his own sire. Where Vasilije was overbearing and ruled over those he sired with an iron hand, Kir was simply absent. When he was staked just a few years after making Saint a vampire, it meant little since he'd not seen him after being released from his control only months into his new life.

He'd tried to be different with his vampires, but the scars left by his choices ensured that even when he was near them there was a distance that arose from simply being him. More of that penance for what he'd done.

Saint covered his eyes with his forearm and cursed the ability of vampires to remember. How much easier his existence would be if he could forget.

Forget them.

This place.

What he'd done all those years ago that had made him into the creature he was today.

Forget her.
