Kelly's On My Wishlist #16

Photobucket

HAPPY SATURDAY EVERYONE!!!

* * *

On My Wishlist is a fun weekly event hosted by Book Chick City and runs every Saturday. It's where I list all the books I desperately want but haven't actually bought yet. They can be old, new or forthcoming. It's also an event that you can join in with too.

* * *

Every so often, a gal wants a kick ass heroine. One that doesn't fall into some tortured vampire's arms because he has hot tats. This book (series) sounds like it would fit that bill. I'm really excited to read this series soon.

THE DEPARTED HAVE ARRIVED.

The world is not the way it was. The dead have risen, and the living are under attack. The powerful Church of Real Truth, in charge since the government fell, has sworn to reimburse citizens being harassed by the deceased. Enter Chess Putnam, a fully tattooed witch and freewheeling ghost hunter. She’s got a real talent for banishing the wicked dead. But Chess is keeping a dark secret: She owes a lot of money to a murderous drug lord named Bump, who wants immediate payback in the form of a dangerous job that involves black magic, human sacrifice, a nefarious demonic creature, and enough wicked energy to wipe out a city of souls. Toss in lust for a rival gang leader and a dangerous attraction to Bump’s ruthless enforcer, and Chess begins to wonder if the rush is really worth it. Hell, yeah. (from Barnes and Noble)

I'd like to take this moment to wish all you moms out there the very happiest of mother's days. I found this image somewhere (I honestly can't remember) last week, and I hope you all can enjoy. Nuttin like a little chocolate with your beefcake right? Of course right.

Amazon Summary:
Nick Radford is a reluctant werewolf who's been fighting the Beast within for nearly 500 years. He's never killed a human, but the Beast is gaining strength and Nick may not be able to ward off his inner demon much longer.

Kyla Yaeger is an elite were-hunter with a scarred past. Her life's mission is to slay the werewolves that slaughtered her parents. Her quest has brought her to Maine, where she's been summoned to destroy the werewolf terrorizing the quaint little village of Heavensent. The last thing she needs is to get distracted by her mysterious—not to mention hunky—new neighbor, Nick Radford.

By the time Kyla learns Nick is her target, she's already fallen for him, making her task of killing him that much harder. She is torn between her love for him and her duty to kill her sworn enemy. Nick fights his forbidden love for Kyla, knowing she is duty-bound to kill him. Kyla and Nick must join forces to fight an even bigger threat—one that will destroy all humanity. Only by their combined powers, can they destroy the evil and bring an end to a centuries old curse.

Review:
I am finding as read more different types of books that I am finding that kick ass type of females are becoming a fast favorite and Kyla is no exception. She is tough and feisty but still lets herself fall in love, my definition of a perfect character.

Most of you know that I am a vampire girl but Nick has me rethinking about werewolves. Dark and Broody ready for it to be over with and definitely had no intentions of falling for Kyla.

Can you imagine finding out the one you have fallen in love with you have to kill? The twists and turns in this book kept me on the edge of my seat. I was pleasantly surprised how quickly I read this book.

As much as I could connect with the characters, I love the native american feel to the story, I am a huge fan of native american lore and this book had it and more, witches, demons.

This is my first book by Cara and let me say I will definitely be checking out her other work. Would I recommend? Yes I would if you are a fan of everything werewolf, forbidden romance and more then this book is for you.

Kelly's Waiting on Wednesday #18

Photobucket

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Breaking The Spine That spotlights upcoming releases we are eagerly anticipating.

* * *

I have yet to start the Chicagoland Vampire Series, but I will be, this coming Monday as part of a group read on BLH's Goodreads group. With all the good things I've heard about this series, I just know I'm going to be happy with it. This book, Hard Bitten and my selection for this WOW, is the 5th installment in the series and it goes something like this:

* * *

"Times are hard for newly minted vampire Merit. Ever since shapeshifters announced their presence to the world, humans have been rallying against supernaturals-and they're camping outside of Cadogan House with protest signs that could turn to pitchforks at any moment. Inside its doors, things between Merit and her Master, green-eyed heartbreaker Ethan Sullivan are...tense. But then the mayor of Chicago calls Merit and Ethan to a clandestine meeting and tells them about a violent vamp attack that has left three women missing. His message is simple: get your House in order. Or else.

Merit needs to get to the bottom of this crime, but it doesn't help that she can't tell who's on her side. So she secretly calls in a favor from someone who's tall, dark, and part of underground vamp group that may have some deep intel on the attack. Merit soon finds herself in the heady, dark heart of Chicago's supernatural society-a world full of vampires who seem ready to fulfill the protesting human's worst fears, and a place where she'll learn that you can't be a vampire without getting a little blood on your hands... "

I won't be back until Saturday so until then, I hope you all have a fabulous week!

Kelly's TEASER TUESDAY #18

Photobucket

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

Grab your current read;

Open to a random page;

Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page!

BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!) Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

* * *

Here I am already bending the rules again. I'm giving you more that the standard two sentences. I'm sorry. Hopefully you won't mind. But I see people breaking that rule all the time so I'm not gonna stress. Okay, here's the quote...let's see if YOU can guess the book?

* * *

Her: "What's YOUR name?"

Him: "Tanner. But my friends call me Crazy Bones."

Her: "Uh, that's an interesting nickname."

Him: "I know, I got it from the ladies. His young chest puffed up. Its for all the wicked mad bones I give the girls that make them crazy for more."

* * *

Did you smile? I know I did. It's from my very first Gena Showalter book EVER, Playing with Fire - Book 1 in the Tales of an Extraordinary Girl Series. I've just started it but so far, I *really* like it.

I hope everyone is busy getting their mommies something nice for Mother's Day! It's THIS coming Sunday you know! Do something nice for your mum. She deserves it. :) See you all tomorrow!
