The City of San Francisco is locked in a grip of fear. A series of occult murders has lead, Inspector Thomas James to a crime scene similar to a murder committed 90 years ago in the once grand Aleris Hotel. A place where power barons of the early 20th Century engaged in witchcraft. And silent film stars indulged in the most wicked of sins. A place where no one questions the black smoke that rises from the hotel's incinerators in the middle of the night.

~Review~
Someone said it was a roller coaster of a ride and that much is true, but its more like the old fashioned Tilt-A-Whirl, spinning you faster and faster into the many historical and unique circumstances only to have the foot drop out and the screams of Oh My God starting. There are so many things going on that you will literally sit there trying to figure out exactly how all these cases will be interwoven.
Mr. Amo has taken factual happenings in California and other places in the world and set them down into his story in a gripping and highly interesting manner. From the 1920's silent film stars and the power mongers of the day, into Nazi Germany and on through the hippified late 1960's and Charlie Manson's family, Mr Amo takes the happenings of those times and weaves them so seamlessly into his story as clues that you can't help but shake your head in curious wonder.
As I said I was disappointed that it ended because I couldn't wait to see how all these happenstances, crimes and clues added up.
Being a voracious reader, ((and an oftimes nitpicker) I have to say that although the book was a awesomely fun and easy read, I did see scattered punctuation and grammatical errors, as well as a couple of disjointed sentences that didn't seem to make sense. I quickly forgot those miniscule errors as will you, when you began to find yourself immersed in the story.
This is one series that I am avidly awaiting the sequel too, and I do not say that often about books I read, so Mr Amo.. Don't make us wait too long for the next one. :)

Welcome to the blog Tre! Hey, this isn't a romance is it? I have it on my TBR shelf and I've read some reviews that are mostly excellent, but nobody is talking any smooching going on. I'm assuming it's not??? I'm still leaving it there...it sounds pretty darned good!
No romance at this point Kelly.. Lots of wild actio, and maybe a bit of hard R rated stuff that i won't go into ((don't wanna spoil the surprise)) but no smoochies or kissing in a romantic way :) ((READ IT though, trust me you'll enjoy the ride.
