Reading Fail: The Calendar
I am one of those really organized people who simply must have a spreadsheet for everything. A weight
loss spreadsheet, household budget spreadsheet and now—as of this year—a TBR spreadsheet. (Believe
it or not, there are about 5 other spreadsheets that I did not include here.)
I started the TBR spreadsheet because I began getting anxiety attacks when I realized how many
paranormal romance series there were out there that I wanted to read. I know, I know, who panics
over the possibility of missing out on a book? Oh, wait, I forgot who I was talking to. Anyway, I knew
that I needed to get organized in order to ensure that I would not forget any of them, and my TBR
spreadsheet in calendar format was the perfect way for me to do that.
Unfortunately, time has not been kind to me this year and I’ve not gotten through my TBR sheet at all.
I’m way off track and behind schedule, but do you know what’s cool about that? It’s okay to be behind
since I have the list. The list actually allows me to be behind without freaking out that I’m going to forget
that I wanted to start the Kate Daniels series, or the Succubus Diaries or the Guild Hunter series this
year.
Eventually, whether it’s this year or next, I’ll get around to reading every single book on my list, and then
I’ll start adding more, since the genre seems to be ever-expanding. I will let go of the notion that my
spreadsheet is a static thing, with firm dates that must be adhered to under penalty of Kindle battery
death, and I will let myself move around the series choices freely, moving some up in priority and others
down as the mood strikes me.
I will not—under and circumstances—allow reading to become a chore, duty, or job with deadlines and
time parameters. Because if I did, what in the world would I do for fun?

Here is my review of Vampire Relationship Guide
Amazon Summary:
Josie wants what she’s never been able to have—sex with a vampire. When she receives an invitation to a party thrown by one of the world’s richest vamps, she doesn’t stop to question her luck; she just jumps into her favorite stilettos and heads out to the event of a lifetime, secretly hoping that she’ll come home with a party favor in the shape of a sexy coffin dweller.
But the great undead, much to Josie’s chagrin, aren’t just pale sexbots with pointy teeth waiting to satisfy her carnal desires—they are dangerous…and sometimes cranky. With a single-minded focus on fulfilling her sole sexual longing, Josie unwittingly entrenches herself in the twisted and sometimes antagonistic world of vampire relationships with no one to guide her, but herself.
Her debut novella, The
Vampire Relationship Guide, Volume 1: Meeting and Mating is available on Amazon, Barnes and Noble and Smashwords.

See a spreadsheet makes sense. This is what I did... I'd see a book a REALLY wanted and this panic would come over me "I need to get this now or I'll forget" So I buy it and it sits on my shelf. I honestly have no idea what books I have LOL Thank heavens for Goodreads because I'm trying to train myself to put the book there as a TBR first. So far... it kinda works LOL But I totally understand the fear Evelyn - I'd hate to forget a book. My hubby... he just laughs. Great post!
I knew you'd understand Belinda!
