Concept: “All her life, Ashlyn Darrow has been tormented by voices from the past. To end the nightmare, she has come to Budapest seeking help from men rumored to have supernatural abilities, not knowing she'll be swept into the arms of Maddox, their most dangerous member -- a man trapped in a hell of his own.

Neither can resist the instant hunger than calms their torments . . . and ignites an irresistible passion. But every heated touch and burning kiss will edge them closer to destruction -- and a soul-shattering test of love . . .”

Review: This is Book 1 in the famous Lords of the Underworld Series which has been around for a long time and is still going. This particular book is about the warrior Maddox who is toting around the Violence demon inside. Before we go any further, I have to say yes, this is very, very similar to the Black Dagger Brotherhood boys. But as I kept reading more and more, I have to tell you as well, that I didn’t care. I loved this story and I loved these characters. There is a difference to be noted though…these guys aren’t vampires or shifters or anything paranormal like that. They are warrior of the gods. Greek mythology. I love me some Greek mythology. There is a little bit of Greek mythology in the Dark Hunter books, so I think this book is a cross between the two.

Our heroine is Ashlyn, a virgin who has her own demons. She hears the conversations ever had in a particular place. She has heard about these “angels” that are living on top of a mountain in Budapest. So she goes to check out the stories, hoping that this angel can help rid her of her curse and lo and behold, first guy she runs into is Maddox. Maddox was checking out the grounds looking for hunters that are constantly trying to off him and his brother warriors that live with him. (I’m telling you, very BDB.) Anyway, Maddox thinks that Ashlyn is some sort of bait put out by the Hunters and Ashlyn is completely clueless as to what Maddox is. Thus the fun starts.

I don’t know where I’ve been but man o’ man am I ever glad I picked these books up and started to read them. I’m not sure right now how many there are, but I think it’s in the double digits. So now I have my BDB boys, my Dark Hunter boys and my LOTU boys to keep me warm all through the summer AND winter.

What I liked: For the first time out of any book that I can remember reading, the female lead is described as being a little more fleshy. She has “more than a handful” for breasts and her stomach is curvy. THANK YOU! I honestly don’t know many man who like skinny “flat” women. Most of the guys I know like more curvy girls. Not chunky, but curvy. Anyway, thank you Gena for paving the way for us girls that really fill out our bras.

What I disliked: Wait a minute. I’ll come up with something. ::thinking:: Yeah, hold on. I’m thinking. ::really thinking:: Do you still want to wait?

My rating: 5 feathers

Doing a Happy Dance so glad you loved the Lord's as much as I do and I agree I loved the fact the female is more curvy I can relate so much with her.

Maddox has a soft spot in my heart because it was the first book I read. and the fact it had mythology mixed in made me a happy happy camper.

I recently discovered the Lords myself and had to get the visions of the Brothers out of my head while reading these! There are 9 of them so far and the author recently posted that there is going to be a spin-off series! I'm doing the LOTU challenge this year too. 2 down, 7 to go!

Oh! This is a great series. I'm a little jealous that you still have them all ahead of you. Aeron's book is my favorite, but they're really all very good. (Don't miss the short story "The Darkest Angel" after book 4.)

I enjoyed this beginning to this series as well. I haven't read the J.R. Ward series yet so I have nothing to compare it to. I'm itching to read more of this series especially after reading your review!
