Goodreads Summary:
Payne, twin sister of Vishous, is cut from the same dark, seductive cloth as her brother. Imprisoned for eons by their mother, the Scribe Virgin, she finally frees herself--only to face a devastating injury. Manuel Manello, M.D., is drafted by the Brotherhood to save her as only he can--but when the human surgeon and the vampire warrior meet, their two worlds collide in the face of their undeniable passion. With so much working against them, can love prove stronger than the birthright and the biology that separates them?

Kelly's WOW This Week:

I'm ready to buy an e-reader. I'm coming into a tad bit o' moola here soon and I'm going to take a small chunk and take the plunge. The first set of books I'm going to buy for my e-reader is from an author that I really enjoy, Kim Harrison, specifically, the Rachel Morgan (The Hollows) series. I have one book that I've read and book 2 sitting on my shelf, but next week, also on the 22nd, Book 9 in the series comes out, Pale Demon. I'll be buying lots of Kim Harrison books. It's a good, fun read.

From Booklist:

"The ninth Rachel Morgan novel finds our tough and feisty witch on a mission to get her shunning rescinded, which requires traveling to the annual witch convention in San Francisco. But the coven doesn’t want her to make her appointment, so they’ve put her on the no fly list, which is why she has to accept Trent’s offer of a cross-country car trip. The rich elf has his own reasons for traveling cross-country, telling Rachel and Ivy that he is on a traditional elf quest. Fans of the series will recognize that simply having Trent, Jenks, Ivy, and Rachel on a road trip is enough to make for a good story, but that is merely the beginning of an action-packed tale that finds Rachel coming fully into her demon magic powers and reevaluating her long-held impressions of Trent. Ending with hints of some major character developments and changes in Rachel’s life, this is an excellent entry that is guaranteed to satisfy Harrison’s legion of followers. (Should there be any overlap between Clint Eastwood and Kim Harrison fan clubs, that subset will certainly enjoy Harrison’s allusions here to Eastwood’s Pale Rider.) The Rachel Morgan series is fast becoming one of the hottest tickets in the urban-fantasy subgenre. --Jessica Moyer "

These sound pretty good! I read the first BDB book but none of the others. I didn't hate it but it wasn't my favorite either. Eveyone keeps telling me to continue, that they get better as they go along.

You know, I've heard SO MUCH about J.R Ward books. Seriously, so many of the blogs I follow have reviews up or are waiting for new books to come out from the author. I really think I need to jump on board and see what all the fuss is about! :D

Great picks this week!

They both sound intriguing...and Kelly, I got an e-reader for Christmas and I'm loving it! No more overflowing shelves! I'll still be unable to pass by a lovely looking print copy now and then...but not so many....

Here's MY WOW

Haven't read any J.R. Ward, but everytime I see that cover it gets me excited. :)

Good luck with the ereader. As much as I longed for one, I wasn't sure I'd like the experience. They turned out to be far more comfortable than I could have hoped, and I do so love carrying and entire library in my purse!

I have 3 picks in my WOW this week . . . just because I'm greedy.

Much to my shame, I've yet to start any books by J.R. Ward. I think that now is the time for me to remedy this - I've heard nothing but awesome things about her books, so will have to get myself her books asap! Lovely choices.

I have the first book in the Hollows still need to get the other books yet.

Lizzy said...

Both sound really interesting! I'm still not sold on the ebook thing, even though many of my friends absolutely love their e-readers.

BLHmistress said...

I can see what your saying Lizzy because it took me awhile to want one either but with me reading some books online it would be so much easier with a ereader so I can get comfy. I will never stop getting paperbacks I love holding them, staring at the cover and glance at them when they are on myself.

Elodie said...

I love J.R. Ward series but I've only read the first three books in the series so I hould buy the rest ... =) Great picks ;)

I've heard good things about both of these authors, but I still have yet to read either of them. I hope you enjoy them!
