Nexi Jones knows two things--being half Guardian is tough--being half Witch is simply problematic. With her Guardian duties put on hold, she begins the grueling task of discovering her magical abilities, which tend to be unpredictable, at the best of times.
At least, she has her luscious Guardian, Kyden to keep her grounded. That is, until the military-built, Ryker returns with a keen interest in being a constant thorn in her backside. With enough trouble controlling her powers--the added rivalry between the two tough Guardians leaves Nexi in urgent demand of a fire extinguisher.
But when tragedy strikes the very core of the Otherworld, Nexi needs to shape up as she lands herself knee deep into vampire society--a world run by vampire Mistresses who offer their assistance in unearthing a deadly plot of revenge. But as the truth begins to unravel, Nexi begins to discover that the Otherworld isn't the only place where Supernaturals exist--and there is something far darker than thirsty vampires lurking within the shadows...
Review:I know its been awhile since I visited with Nexi and Kyden and to be honest its like visiting home again. I really missed these characters. I forgot how much I loved Nexi, kick ass witch/ guardian in training all the while her and Kyden's relationship just continues on smoldering(I'm not joking wow talk about steamy)I wish I could mention about a certain scene that well not only left me standing in front of my a/c but laughing as well. Read the book to find out what I'm talking about and for those who have I think you might know what scene I am talking about. This book reminded me just how much I love Stacey's writing.
In this book we find Nexi learning how to control her powers, and not only do we see all the favorite characters return we meet some new ones as well. Haven did I mention how much I love her she makes me laugh every single time I read a scene with her in it. But Briar is running a close second to being one of my fave side characters.
Enough on the characters I could possibly talk about them all night long, but I will move on the story flowed well as well as the action scenes though this book had more of her training than battling evil which I enjoyed just as much as if they were fighting the big bad guys.
I sometimes get Leary reading the second book in a series afraid it won't match up with expectations but I didn't have to worry. This is was an wonderfully continuation of a series I am now hopelessly addicted to.
If you haven't read any of Stacey's works, then do it she has an amazing way with words. If you are paranormal addict like myself I suggest you give this series a try.
