On My Wishlist #5
On My Wishlist is a fun weekly event hosted by Book Chick City and runs every Saturday. It's where I list all the books I desperately want but haven't actually bought yet. They can be old, new or forthcoming. It's also an event that you can join in with too.
I know you must think I live in a cave not reading these set of books but I am addict for the True Blood so one day I will get these books.
Dead Until Dark (Sookie Stackhouse #1)
by Charlaine Harris
Amazon Summary:
Sookie Stackhouse is just a small-time cocktail waitress in small-town Louisiana. Until the vampire of her dreams walks into her life-and one of her coworkers checks out....
Maybe having a vampire for a boyfriend isn't such a bright idea.
Living Dead in Dallas (Sookie Stackhouse #2)
by Charlaine Harris
Goodreads Summary:
Waiting tables, sweeping floors, reading minds and solving mysteries for the undead. It's all in a day's work for Sookie...
Cocktail waitress Sookie Stackhouse is on a streak of real bad luck. First, her co-worker gets murdered and no one seems to care. Then Sookie is attacked - and poisoned - late one night by some weird and apparently mythical beast. She only survives because the local vampires roll up and graciously suck the poison from her veins (like they didn't enjoy it). But in return the blood-suckers need a favor.
Which is why Sookie ends up in Dallas, using her telepathic skills to search for a missing vampire, on the condition that her undead friends don't do anything, well, vampiric while she's there. Easier said than done. All it takes is one delicious blonde and one small mistake for things to turn deadly..
Club Dead (Sookie Stackhouse #3)
by Charlaine Harris
Goodreads Summary:
Things between cocktail waitress Sookie and her vampire boyfriend Bill seem to be going excellently (apart from the small matter of him being undead) until he leaves town for a while. A long while. Bill's sinister boss Eric has an idea of where to find him, whisking her off to Jackson, Mississippi to mingle with the under-underworld at Club Dead. When she finally catches up with the errant vampire, he is in big trouble and caught in an act of serious betrayal. This raises serious doubts as to whether she should save him or start sharpening a few stakes of her own ..
Dead to the World (Sookie Stackhouse #4)
by Charlaine Harris
Goodreads Summary:
When cocktail waitress Sookie Stackhouse sees a naked man on the side of the road, she doesn't just drive on by. Turns out the poor thing hasn't a clue who he is, but Sookie does. It's Eric the vampire--but now he's a kinder, gentler Eric. And a scared Eric, because whoever took his memory now wants his life.
Dead as a Doornail (Sookie Stackhouse #5)
by Charlaine Harris
Goodreads Summary:
When she is not waitressing or preoccupied with her own amorous adventures, telepath Sookie Stackhouse is tracking down a serial killer of shapeshifters. Her sleuthing is partly altruistic, but she's also trying to save her were-panther brother, Jason, who has become the chief suspect in the crime. A three-ring circus of sexy supernaturalism.
Definitely Dead (Sookie Stackhouse #6)
by Charlaine Harris
Amazon Summary:
From Publishers Weekly
In bestseller Harris's perky sixth Southern Vampire novel to star Sookie Stackhouse (after 2005's Dead as a Doornail), the telepathic waitress of Bon Temps, La., is off to (pre-hurricane) New Orleans to close out her dead cousin Hadley's apartment. Hadley's death six weeks earlier had been unexpected, since, as a vampire, she was already dead. Still, she'd led a lively existence as the main squeeze of the Queen of Louisiana, an omnisexual vampire, whose political marriage to the King of Arkansas occurred the night before Hadley's demise. Sookie and Amelia Broadway, Hadley's landlady and a pretty cool witch, immediately discover a mess of trouble left behind in Hadley's closet, and Sookie's soon neck-deep in even more. Though most of the intrigue doesn't come till halfway through, Harris keeps the action going nonstop in this bubbly brew of supernatural spice and whimsical whodunit that's more fun than a barrel of beignets. Alan Ball, the creator of HBO's Six Feet Under, plans to shoot a TV pilot based on the series later this year.

All Together Dead (Sookie Stackhouse #7)
by Charlaine Harris
Goodreads Summary:
In All Together Dead, Sookie is trying to put past failed relationships behind her and has a new man in her life: the handsome and mysterious shapeshifter Quinn. But in the wake of the devastation from Hurricane Katrina, and with the entire Louisiana supernatural community still reeling, Sookie is summoned by Sophie-Anne Leclerq (the Queen of Louisiana) to accompany her to a historic regional vampire summit. However, the conference -- where entire power bases could be gained or lost -- is filled with friction and ill will; and when delegates are found brutally murdered, Sookie finds herself in the middle of a conspiracy-ridden power play where the unlikeliest of suspects could be a cold-blooded killer.
From Dead to Worse (Sookie Stackhouse #8)
by Charlaine Harris
Goodread's Summary:
Sookie Stackhouse has a lot on her mind. Not only is telepathic Louisiana cocktail waitress still reeling from Hurricane Katrina tragedies and the explosion at the vampire summit; she's also understandably preoccupied with the devilish disappearance of Quinn, her main squeeze. Reviewers have praised Charlaine Harris's Southern Vampire series as "deliciously fiendish [and] increasingly riotous"; to that praise we would add "addictively alluring."
Dead and Gone (Sookie Stackhouse #9)
by Charlaine Harris
Goodread's Summary:
Except for Sookie Stackhouse, folks in Bon Temps, Louisiana, know little about vamps-and nothing about weres.
Until now. The weres and shifters have finally decided to reveal their existence to the ordinary world. At first all goes well. Then the mutilated body of a were-panther is found near the bar where Sookie works-and she feels compelled to discover who, human or otherwise, did it.
But there's a far greater danger threatening Bon Temps. A race of unhuman beings-older, more powerful, and more secretive than vampires or werewolves-is preparing for war. And Sookie finds herself an all-too human pawn in their battle.
Dead in the Family (Sookie Stackhouse #10)
by Charlaine Harris
Goodreads Summary:
Sookie Stackhouse somehow survived the Faery War, but life never seems to get easy for Bon Temps' telepathic (but tip-poor) barmaid. In the tenth installment of Charlaine Harris's resilient Southern Vampire series, Sookie and heartthrob Eric Northman come under intense regal scrutiny, but there are dangers even closer at hand: The doors to Faery slammed shut before some Fae were able to return and they're holding Sookie very personally responsible. (Hand-selling tip: HBO's True Blood is based on this series. The third season of this Emmy and Golden Globe Award-winning drama begins next month.)
A Touch of Dead (Sookie Stackhouse #4.1, 4.3, 5.1, 7.1 & 8.1)
by Charlaine Harris
Goodreads Summary:
New York Times bestselling author Charlaine Harris has re-imagined the supernatural world with her “spunky” (Tampa Tribune) Southern Vampire novels starring telepathic waitress Sookie Stackhouse. Now, for the first time, here is every Sookie Stackhouse short story ever written—together in one volume.
Stories include “Fairy Dust,” “One Word Answer,” “Dracula Night,” “Lucky,” and “Giftwrap.”
Short Stories in the order in which they occur in Sookie’s life:
“Fairy Dust” (from Powers of Detection) after the events in Dead to the World
“Dracula Night” (from Many Bloody Returns) before the action of Dead as a Doornail
“One Word Answer” (from Bite) after Dead as a Doornail
“Lucky” (from Unusual Suspects ) after All Together Dead
“Gift Wrap” (from Wolfsbane and Mistletoe) before Dead and Gone
Dead Reckoning (Sookie Stackhouse #11)
by Charlaine Harris (release Date- May 3rd,2011)
Goodreads Summary:
"With her knack for being in trouble's way, Sookie witnesses the firebombing of Merlotte's, the bar where she works. Since Sam Merlotte is now known to be two-natured, suspicion falls immediately on the anti-shifters in the area. But Sookie suspects otherwise and she and Sam work together to uncover the culprit - and the twisted motive for the attack. But her attention is divided. Though she can't 'read' vampires, Sookie knows her lover Eric Northman and his 'child' Pam well - and she realises that they are plotting to kill the vampire who is now their master. Gradually, she is drawn into the plot -which is much more complicated than she knows. Caught up in the politics of the vampire world, Sookie will learn that she is as much of a pawn as any ordinary human - and that there is a new Queen on the board . . . "

I, too, love this series. I'm currently reading Dead to the World. Sookie and the vamps are my guilty pleasure! Enjoy!
Love the series! But really want to read the books. :D Great pick!
you should read the series, they're very good! Much better than the show in my opinion.
This is a fun series to read. I still need to read the book of short stories and Dead in the Family. I love watching True Blood. Team Eric!!
I think part of the reason I haven't read the books is I was afraid then I wouldn't want to watch True Blood again. But this year I will read this series.
Team Eric here too all the way :)
Dead Until Dark is on my TBR list for 2011 too. :)
My wishlist: http://lost-in-lit.blogspot.com/2011/01/on-my-wishlist-1.html

Books For Company
I've heard loads of great stuff about these books! Nice picks! Thanks for visiting my blog!
I think I'm up to From Dead to Worse. I really enjoy these books. I hope you will as well. :) Great choices!
I'm up to "From Dead to Worse" and I have managed to keep ahead of the series as I prefer to read first. Still think you will enjoy them.
If you live in a cave, we probably share it because I haven't read the series yet either!:)) Well... When I start a series I like to read all the books in a row and I feel like there are already too many books in this one. I'll probably have to stay home one week or so to catch up. :)) I'll just wait to have enough patience to do it or for a rainy, cold week to get cozy and read. :P
Happy reading!
Oh my! Well, I am a die hard Sookie fan and have been before Sookie was as popular as she is today because of True Blood. I started reading Sookie right around the 4th book's release. I have them all in hardcover in a special place on my bookshelf and I will buy every single new Sookie that there is.
There is a Christmas Sookie one that you are missing from your list but don't bother with it Donna. It was awful. And it's a short story that doesn't matter to the series in the least.
2011 would be an excellent year for anyone to read Sookie!
Oh yeah, one more thing, Sookie the books are NOTHING like True Blood other than characters and places and names. The story though? Completely different.
It is nice to have a wishlist then you know what you want as well. I always update my own and its huge but I will get to them someday.
I haven't caught up with the series yet but it is a good series.
I loved this series! I hope you enjoy!
I've also awarded you the stylish blogger award at http://thinkingcat.blogspot.com, congrats!
I haven't read the series but I love watching True Blood :)
I tried to read the first book but the actress that plays Sookie in the True Blood TV series just spoiled it for me. I couldn't read the book without seeing (and hearing her in my head) and there is just something about her that rubs me the wrong way.
I really enjoyed the series, but whenever we watch True Blood my husband gets irritated with me whenever I say, "But that's not how it happened!" :)
Jennifer (An Abundance of Books)
I love True Blood as well! I tried reading the book series, but I didn't end up finishing the first one. I didn't realize the book series is different than True Blood. I guess now that I know that, I could try to reread it. Good Luck :)
Very helpful capsule summaries of these books. I look forward to starting the series in the near future.
