BLB Tour Guest Post with Deena Remiel

Today we have Deena Remiel as special guest, please give her a warm welcome.

Trinity – Man, Woman, Book

Books know no gender. Their stories are open to all who care to read them. Some would argue, however, that certain genres are exclusionary in their focus. Most men would say the romance genre, for example, with plotlines catering to the female reader’s heart, are just not the type of books they’d pick up and read. Many romance novels, though, cross genres and add a layer of gender neutrality.

Many women have read Trinity, my paranormal romance novel from Decadent Publishing, and loved it. Reviewers have stated that they had a lot of trouble putting it down to cook, to sleep, or to just get on with their lives. They mentioned not being able to stop thinking about the story once they finished, while others were compelled to go back and reread it multiple times. For these women, Emma is relatable as a fierce mother who would do anything to keep her daughter safe from Evil. And the passion between Emma and Michael has sent them to “Swoonsville”. I get it. I love this story for all the same reasons they do. But I’m a woman, too, and I’m the author. (Insert cheeky grin)

Then, men picked up my book. All were unsolicited, and caught me off guard. Their remarks after finishing the book were quite complimentary. It got me thinking. What is it about my book that first, intrigued these guys enough to buy it, decide to read it, and finally, enjoy it so much they needed to tell me so?

I asked these gentlemen for this crucial piece of insight, and I’d like to share their impressions with you. One thought the storyline was action-packed, with no lulls to allow for an easily-distracted mind. He never once thought of Trinity as a “chick” book while reading, and thought the love scenes were pretty hot.

Another wanted me to quote straight from his review, so I shall. “What appeals to me about "Trinity"and the Brethren is that, as a male, it's not particularly aimed at a core female audience, as many would suspect with its storyline, plot, and especially the romance. It's something that a reader, male or female, can get hooked on very easily. From the very first few pages, it holds your attention, captivates with its majestic beauty (well-written, of course), and truly takes the reader on a fantastic new journey.

What makes me want to read more from the series is its well-layered characters and fully developed storyline. When one finishes reading it, you just know that there's more to discover and that makes the reader anticipate the next part(s) even more. These characters are so fleshed out, that they seem like real people instead of just merely characters in a book.

The romance is sweeping, by the way, and the novel takes on a certain air of realism that brings everything to life. It's daring, bold, and highly original.”

So Trinity is not for women only. It’s an equal opportunity read, with just enough of everything to please all. I’m thrilled that women are continuing to read Trinity. I hope that more men choose to pick it up as well. Even though a hunky angel is on the front cover, Emma is on there, too, looking fierce and beautiful. In the end, a good story is a good story. I hope you enjoy my good story!

Amazon Summary:
One way or another, terror will reign tonight...

School teacher and single mom, Emma Livingston, has been through hell—and back so she thinks. While dealing with the night terrors and active imagination of her five-year old daughter, Hannah, she attempts to lead a normal life. That is, until the demon from those nightmares pays her a visit, too, and threatens both of their lives. Desperate, she reaches out for help—and finds Michael waiting.

Michael D’Angelo is known to everyone in Prophet’s Point, Arizona, as their loving elementary school principal. But to The Brethren, he is the most powerful Protector. Immortal and angelic does not mean he’s without doubts or fears, as protecting Emma and Hannah from Evil tests his ability to fight his tortured past.

As the Trinity is formed, ancient secrets are revealed and faith is tested. When a prophecy is exposed, Hannah becomes the main target and Emma wonders if a normal life will ever be possible again. Hope is like an anchor, but can a mother, her daughter, and an angel overcome the evil determined to annihilate the world?

About The Author

My name is Deena Remiel, and I am an author of paranormal romance and poetry. I also teach language arts to middle schoolers. Curiously, I find myself being called upon to write all sorts of correspondence for my family and friends, but they are everything to me, and frequently serve as fodder for elements of my novels, poems, and posts. They take it all in stride, though, and with good humor. So, it’s really a perfect give and take relationship!

I belong to RWA national and the Desert Rose Chapter of RWA, where there are outstanding people writing fabulous stories. I can now say I’m a published author! I have poetry published in the anthology, Hippoetry, coming out in the fall of 2010. My first paranormal romance, TRINITY, A Brethren Novel, will be released shortly, as will RELIC, the second book in the series! Thanks, Decadent Publishing!

I grew up in Philadelphia, home of the most amazing soft pretzels, oh and the Liberty Bell. My husband and I began our own family in New Jersey, and just a few short years ago, Arizona called to my spirit and tempted my husband with much better weather! We moved our family, and the rest is history, or the present, as the case may be. These are a few of my favorite things: writing and reading of course, chocolate, music with lyrics or melodies that speak to me, soaking baths, singing in the shower, dancing with my buds, romantic dancing with my hubby, scrapbooking, watching my girls enjoy what they love to do, and laughing at jokes because Lord knows I can’t tell one!
